I pity the poor folk who have less IT literacy than I do and try to borrow eBooks or audio books from Fulton library system! I have been trying to get a few alternatives to listen to and read on the plane on Monday but blimey you need a flippin’ IT degree to figure out the library’s system – I used to work in IT and have still been struggling! There appears to be a cluster of issues making it nigh on impossible to borrow a book. A combination of few available books, several file formats, several apps needing to be downloaded, and zero compatibility with my Macbook – resulting in one frustrated borrower. It’s easier and cheaper time wise just to buy a couple of books on iTunes or go back to the good old paperback. MM thinks I’m fooling myself anyway – thinking that I will have time to read with a 4 year old and a 6 year old in a confined space for 9 hours is just asking for trouble:) Anyway the third book in the Larsson trilogy will be joining me on the plane and I will get to read it – though I’ll be sad when I’ve finished it – I’ve loved these books so much. Next on my list is the new Robert Harris book – The Fear Index.
I’m off to the pool with Poppy this afternoon again to avoid the workmen at home. I had a sneak peek in the room yesterday and my oh my – it’s all gone! The old bathroom is completely demolished and the old closet wall is gone! So we’re almost at the ‘fun’ bit – that is bringing in the new bathroom! It does look a bit creepy in there now – as MM pointed out – they get their plastic sheeting from the same supplier as Dexter Morgan
I opted for a bit of summer color today with my Boden fab jersey tunic in prune (I have the moss here too). This really has been the surprise of the season – it is so lovely in real life – the colors really pop. Luckily I also have the perfect J.Crew cashmere cardigan to coordinate with the orange in it – and my nectarine Tory Burch Revas work perfectly! Apologies for the dark photo again and all the stuff behind me – my packing is in full swing!
After a few days off in the sun it’s back to the office for me today. Quite nice in a way as I get to dress in something other than a bikini. Even my 4 year old son mentioned yesterday that I needed to put some lipstick on and a dress – he’ll be asking me where his dinner is next.
So it’s back to cracking the whip at work and figuring out why some stuff isn’t being done. It’s a tough time of year when most people, including me, just want to slow down and enjoy the summer, but with only 2 weeks left before I leave for England needs must when the devil drives.
To honor my son’s request I am wearing the Boden Fab jersey tunic in moss – I just love it. It hangs perfectly and is the lovely stretchy jersey that made me fall in love with Boden tunics in the first place. So comfortable to wear in the heat and yet I still feel really neat with a few accessories. I’ve thrown the Boden cropped cashmere cardigan from last year over the top of it for the freezing air conditioning in the office. Accessorized with H&M pink beads and Tory Burch navy Eddies.
I’m currently lusting over the Boden tipped blazer in blossom. I know their sale will start soon but I’m so tempted to order now so I’ll have it in time for my trip back to the UK. At $103 it’s still a bargain and the perfect color to wear summer into fall with white or blue jeans. What do you think?
I vacillated over this order for some time. Unusual for me. Of course I ended up placing the order as previously when I have been on the fence and not ordered, hoping to try them in the clearance, the items have promptly received rave reviews and sold out – the Border print tunic for instance (though more stock was recently added so I swooped!).
It was initially the print of the Fab jersey tunic that I couldn’t decide on – I loved the colors and have a current obsession with green – so knowing how often fabrics look better in real life than online, I ordered both the prune and the moss. I am thrilled I did! I like the pebble colorway too but think it’s a bit too pale for me. As always the jersey is super soft and stretchy and to me the cut feels as if it does nip in a little at the waist making it less straight up and down. I ordered the US 6 which seems to be my regular size for Boden tunics – especially jersey. I’m 5’6″, 140lbs, 36C with no waist so I definitely think a Boden US 6/UK 10 is more generous than other brands. The prune is gorgeous – a lovely brown background and the lilac flowers are gorgeous, so even though it is brown the colors feel very summery – it’s going to be stunning with a golden tan (spf everyone!!).
The moss is lovely too. I think moss is a bad color name – for me it conjures up dirty greens on a damp day – not good! This green is actually much fresher and vibrant – though not lurid and fluorescent – a good balance and again perfect for summer. The navy flowers mean it can be worn easily with navy shoes too – but nude flats would look great with both colorways.
