We had rather an eventful Friday. The kids and I were excited to head over to our friends’ house across the street for some Friday R&R. Our Husbands arrived after work and we were all settling into a fun evening of conversation and wine. I decided I needed the loo before I got comfortable chatting outside. I got up with gusto and headed promptly towards the powder room. Only I didn’t realize that their glass sliding door was shut…oh yes…it was dusk, there was no reflection and I walked smack bang right into it. All I remember saying as it shattered was ‘Oh no I thought it was open!’.
My Husband took me straight to ER where I had 8 stitches in my left boob where a shard had slit the skin – it could have been way worse and I am happy to report I still have 2 nipples. I have a very black eye and feel very remorseful about the damage I caused. On the plus side the doctor who stitched me was a hot and I got some great pain meds 🙂 Every cloud and all that!
I’ve been well cared for by the kids and my amazing husband – who is now applying tape to all our glass doors – laugh a minute hey!?
I actually managed to properly dress myself today, though makeup and contact lenses are still a step too far. If only it had been closer to Halloween I wouldn’t even need to think about a costume!
Boots – Acne Pistols // Dress – AllSaints (old – currently 20% off selected items) // Cape – ASOS // Bag – Anya Hindmarch
At least I made it to 43 before having stitches or a black eye!
Looks nasty. At least you had some eye candy to distract you from the stitches.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Indeed – funny how I didn’t flinch with all my piercings yet stitches still freak me out!
I’m so disappointed there isn’t a selfie with the hot doctor – lol!!! Glad you’re on the mend – sounded scary and yet, so easily done…just as well it was a grown up and not a child. Get well soon – it’s not affected your style one bit gorgeous x
It’s been lovely not messing with makeup this week – I’ll feel much better now I’m off the pain meds too!
I love that you can laugh about it – and I’m grateful that that’s a pic of the stitches and not of the gaping wound (I am rubbish around blood). Yeah – where is the pic of the hot doc?
Can you believe I didn’t get a photo of him!? He was very cute and quite sympathetic – I guess you have to be working in ER!
Oh no…so sorry to hear about this! It looks very painful! Glad that the hot doc got you all stitched up, and that you are up and about looking fabulous, as usual! Have a great week! 🙂
Thanks Melissa! I feel tonnes better now thanks – just a bit silly:)
Love it that you’re still smiling and looking so gorgeous!
Aww – I don’t feel that ‘hot’ right now lol:)
Ouch!! Glad you haven’t lost your sense of humour though! Hope you heal quickly x
My sense of humor will still be working on my death bed – I promise that! xx
May I share? When I was 17 (waaay back) I was sent on an exchange visit to Amsterdam, v. cool. The (v.cool) family invited all the neighbors round for drinks in the garden to meet de Engelse… and I after a couple of glasses I didn’t notice they’d closed the French windows. I knocked myself out, but without any spectacular injuries other than wounded teenage pride. However, I can still remember to this day the noise (sonic boom) it made and the spooky clinking of glasses.
I wish you a speedy recovery!
Ha – it’s so funny – the number of people who have had similar incidents! They only talk about it though when someone else they know does it! I’m on the mend – now we both have great stories:)
I saw your pics on Insta. It looks awful, poor you! Enjoy being looked after! Lynne x
I am being well taken care of – the kids and the Husband have been amazing – though there have been a few jokes at my expense too:)
Oh Joanna, ouch! You still look damn amazing in your outfit picture though, I’d still be slouching about in joggers and a hoody! x
Ha – don’t worry they are very comfy clothes with no tight areas:)
OMG – that’s horrific! S*d the damage to their door!! Why didn’t they have safety glass?!? Wouldn’t have splintered and ended up in your boob!! Hope you feel better soon
I was lucky – it was one of the original windows from 1950s so it had done well to last so long! On the mend now though thank you x
Poor you Joanna, that looks really painful, hope you are feeling a better now and the pain is going! Walking into a glass door…easily done! Xx
Easily done? Really? I feel a bit of a plonker it has to be said 🙂
Oh my goodness Joanna, that does look so painful! Hope you are on the mend xx
Thanks Michelle – yes on the mend – it’s amazing how quickly the body heals!
Wow that’s a shiner! Glad you are ok.
Diane
Much better thanks Diane! The bruise may take a while to disappear though! xx
Oh my goodness- I am so sorry! And yet you manage to still look totally fabulous!! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
