Fall shopping in 90 degree heat…

I hope you all had a great Bank Holiday weekend in the UK! We have our long weekend here this week for Labor Day. Labor Day traditionally signals the end of summer but in Georgia it will be in the 80s till well into October! Having said that the heat doesn’t stop me from thinking about all things Fall!

I’ve already ordered this awesome jacket. Zara have a similar version but I prefer the Mango one as the fabric is a short furry fabric…softer and more appropriate for leopard print – at least I think so!

I’ve also ordered these dresses. Yes I know, I know…I couldn’t decide which color so ordered both! Not to mention they are a great price. How cool will they look with a biker jacket or the jacket above to give them a little attitude!?

I did a little survey on these boots the other day on Instagram. I was torn – I love the blue but they are higher than the brown and pink. Both are stunning and perfect with dresses or jeans. I think I’m going for the higher blue pair

Cambell boot Taye boot

These are on my MUST HAVE list for winter – but I will try and wait for these, hoping they won’t sell out!

Sable boot

Finally I have just ordered this sweater from Zara – it comes in mink, khaki and grey. How fabulous is it with either skinnies (with the boots above!) or boyfriend jeans – so slouchy.

Oh how I love dressing for Fall and Winter – I really do live in the wrong part of the world!

Poppy and I had fun the other day – I did my own #2 undercut – so easy, a little nerve wracking, but easier than anticipated!

Biker boots

I have at least another month of hot weather here so it is hard to fathom that the Fall issues of Vogue and Harper’s are now hitting my mail box. It always gets me quite excited about sweaters, boots and coats but this year I have resolved not to bring them out too early, and wait for the appropriate weather, instead of forcing Fall on my closet!

At the end of last winter I sat pretty smugly saying to myself ‘I won’t need to buy anything new next winter!’. Ha Ha Ha! As if! The first thing on my list for this autumn/winter season is a pair of biker boots. As you know I pretty much have every style of boots available – too many Rag & Bone Newburys, Isabel Marant Dickers, Chloe Susannas and Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots – oh and a pair of Rag & Bone Chelsea boots bought off The Outnet last year. Believe it or not I do not have a pair of biker boots to wear with skinny jeans and an oversized sweater. The more I search Pinterest for inspiration the more I know I really need a pair…ok want a pair….

This is the pair I have just ordered – AllSaints have the most amazing boots but they are usually so expensive. These Shoreditch boots are 50% off with an extra 20% off using code Extra20. They only have the chocolate color left though I have to say this is my preference anyway over black. I think they are far less severe and will age far better than black. They are also the perfect height as they can be teamed with both skinnies or rolled up boyfriend jeans.

There are only a couple of sizes left in this Kawai Shearling boot – but well worth looking at just for the fact that it is shearling lined! So cozy for winter.

Frye is always a go to brand for boots – boots that will last a lifetime and priced to reflect that, but I have found a couple of discounted pairs too. These are my favorites.

The Frye Vicky Engineer – simplicity with the necessary buckles.

Frye Vicky

The Frye Veronica Tanker – available in black too – just love this with the wrap buckle detail.

frye veronica tanker

The quintessential Frye Veronica Slouch – 24% off here too! Available in brown too.

frye veronica slouch

The Frye Veronica shortie – and this color is superb for a change from black, but it’s such a popular boot it comes in about 10 other colors!

frye veronica shortie

The Frye Natalie mid is – as it suggests a mid height. I adore this in charcoal – again softer than black.

Frye natalie mid

The Frye Natalie is slightly shorter with the single buckle and comes in 5 leather finishes here.

Frye Natalie

I absolutely love the Frye Valerie tall – the buckles are fabulous. They also do a shorter version here which is also shearling lined.

Frye valerie

Similar and perfect for toughening up a girly dress are the Veronica belted tall boots. Also available in a cognac leather.

Or if you want the versatility of wearing with boyfriend jeans there is the Veronica short belted boot.

Frye veronica short belted

The Frye Jenna is another classic and a perfect height and it’s available here half price in black or brown.

Frye Jenna

How cool are these with the stud embellishment – the Veronica Stud Moto – 50% off too!

Frye veronica stud 6pm

The classic Frye Veronica is available here – all 4 colors are discounted slightly differently but the black are 42% off msrp!

Frye veronica 6

Next up Rag & Bone can’t go wrong with boots. I have a shorter version of these that I bought off The Outnet – but these are the classic biker boot with a more subtle stud rather than a buckle.

Rag & Bone

Finally while mentioning The Outnet – how about a classic pair of Belstaff biker boots at 65% off!!? Available in black or brown.

So what’s your verdict on the biker boot? I can’t wait to receive my All Saints pair – comfort and a little edginess and perfect for crappy weather!

As for the past few days Ā it’s been a very lazy weekend that included a Sunday roast and lots of Olympics – I feel a void now they’re over! Today I’m back in the office on a cooler less humid day so the jeans are back out!

The dog days of summer

Mid August in Georgia is just miserable…moan, moan, moan…hot, humid and hot! Thank goodness for AC! Though the AC in the office blows snowballs so a jacket is still required for inside! Today I have just a quick outift catch up from this week – it’s been a busy one now we are back at school and normal work weeks have resumed. Oh and yes I’ve been learning to drive a manual car again – not too muchĀ gear crunching thankfully! I still love my GTI and I’ve just about figured out the radio and all the buttons!

You’re welcome:)

They are also available on the US site too…These are my favorites!

A birthday and an unexpected gift!

So the celebrations have ended, but definitely on a high note! I was greeted by the children with breakfast in bed on Wednesday morning – so lovely! Then it was off out for lunch with my husband, and maybe a glass of prosecco. I do love a long lazy lunch!

That evening we went out for dinner and cocktails. It is fun to go out on a school night but I certainly can’t do it every week! 45 is turning to out to be pretty fun so far!

Before we went on vacation my husband had someone drive into the back of him – we found out this week that the car had to be written off as a total loss. So sad! We had had both of our cars – a large sedan and an SUV for about 10 years and had planned to keep them till the wheels dropped off! Having no car payments was lovely but they were also expensive to maintain. I say ‘they’ as while my husband is looking for a new car we decided it was time to trade in my SUV. With more than 100k miles on the clock, and no longer needing to carry strollers and carseats around, I decided it was time for a little driving fun! I’ve ended up with my ‘dream’ ‘hot hatch’ – a Golf SE GTI! It’s manual too!! I haven’t driven a stick for 16 years (the sales guy on the test drive went a bit pale once I mentioned that….) but after missing a few gears, and a few gear crunches, it was like I’d always driven one! I LOVE it. It is so much fun! All I need now are some furry dice on the rearview mirror! Today I have mostly been reading car manuals!!

Funnily enough my husband is STILL without a car…he is contemplating something fun and smaller too! Once again we’ll be the odd foreigners…drivingĀ small cars, in a neighborhood of SUVs, trucks and luxury sedans!

It’s my birthday tomorrow!

Yes I’ve spent the past week celebrating! It only happens once a year so why not!? Us Leos aren’t known for being shy and retiring either!

On Friday night I invited a few close girlfriends out for cocktails and tapas – it was perfect – such a fun evening.

With a mild hangover on Saturday, my fabulous family took me to me favorite Mexican spot for lunch and margaritas.

Tomorrow I’m being taken for lunch then dinner by my gorgeous husband. It’s a good job I’m back in the gym – Slimming World has been on hold this week šŸ˜‰

As for this evening I’ll be cracking open one of my gifts – a bottle of champagne – and toasting the start of being 45 – my late 40s – and feeling better than ever!

Bomber jackets are everywhere!

I don’t remember a time where a piece of outerwear has so influenced style – okay maybe the parka or the leather jacket – but this year the bomber jacket is available everywhere. Light or padded, plain or embroidered, of every color, you will see a plethora of choice this season. They are surprisingly easy to wear too.

Here I am in my H&M bomber yesterday – at just $59.99 it is great value. Don’t be scared of the red – it works great with blue or black denim. Oh size down too – it fits big. This is a medium.

There are so many others that I love that my edit has ended up rather long! Let’s start with this stunning number from Zara. It is reversible – embroidered or plain and is a Limited Edition. At $189 it isn’t cheap but it is stunning.

Zaa Limited Edition

My next place to visit is always ASOS. Sometimes they have too much choice available!

I absolutely love this color – it’s described as silver grey, but here it definitely has some khaki in it too! It looks super and I love the pocket details on the sleeves. Just $73 from ASOS.

Asos luxe

I really like the metallic trim on this one and the nude and yellow is fabulously summery and fun.

Asos yellow

A bit of embroidery this time. I have a thing about peacocks and adore this jacket.

Boohoo peacock

This is kind of special. There won’t be many other polka dot bombers around and French Connection have played an ace here.

French connection spotty

I’ve ordered this one – it’s reduced to $39 and when can I ever resist a bit of animal print?

New Look animal print

There are lots of nudes and pinks available this season – a really flattering color for showing off that holiday tan. This is New Look and just $49.

Another pinkĀ jacket and just $44.

Boohoo pink

On to Mango – and I know there will be more coming from them as the season progresses.

This is in the sale reduced from $149.99 to just $39.99! It will be perfect for taking you into Fall.

mango colorblock

Embroidery and pinkĀ – this is beautiful and just $119.99 for a beautifully soft jacket. It looks so comfortable.

Mango embroidered

These next two a lovely and simple – yet will add a little pizzazz to a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. What more do you need at just $59.99. A great alternative if the H&M red jacket is too much for you.

Mango pink satin Mango blue satin

An evening bomber jacket? Yes with this sequin jacket you will never feel underdressed regardless if you’re wearing it with jeans or over a cocktail dress – I love it.

Mango sequin

Finally good old TopShop – they are a great resource as they really pay attention to the needs of a taller or petite customer too, and most of these jackets are available in Tall, Petite and Regular.

This may be my favorite of them all. It’s reversible with green on one side and black on the other. The green is stunning, and I love the dragon embroidery. It’s also quilted which I love too.

TopSHop reversible

Along with anything animal, camo is a favorite print of mine. This is fab-u-lous.

Topshop camo

Another pinkĀ jacket and the quilting makes this one look so luxurious.

TopShop quilted nude

A little lighter and dressier – this lace jacketĀ is a little different, and I love the navy front panels.

TopSHop lace

More pinkĀ but combined with a subtle embroidery. Again a great alternative to the H&M jacket if red is just too much.

TopShop embroidered nude

Ending with another favorite. It’s in my basket. Not only is it beautiful but I would wear this all Fall and Winter….

TopShop contrast

So have you ventured into the bomber jacket territory yet? There’s so much choice for fans and those who just want to dip their toes in.

Today the kids are back at school! I have a 5th grader and 3rd grader! For the first time I really wasn’t ready to wave them off – it’s been such a fabulous summer…Sorry for the photo quality today – I’ve dropped my camera and it may be nackered – but the awful humidity also meant I shot this inside!
