It’s been a while I know! Various reasons have caused me to hesitate – but I can never seem to quit this blogging thing for good – I guess I just have to wait for the inspiration and blogging mojo to raise it’s head again. I’m still active on Instagram and love sharing my outfits there, along with updates on my thriving Rodan + Fields business. I’m thrilled to say I’m still having a ball with it and it is really flourishing – the hard work I invested a year ago is paying off. I traveled to Vegas for convention at the beginning of October, and it was absolutely incredible to meet so many smart, driven people in person. It has truly spurred me on to take this gig to the top.
We adopted a new puppy too a couple of weeks ago – totally on impulse – but the best things are done based on spontaneity. He’s amazing – so sweet and gentle. He’s been christened Larkin (Philip Larkin – “They fuck you up, your mum and dad…”) and he is a terrific running companion. Running really does make me happy – I hate missing a day and I get tremendous joy from a 4 mile jog round the neighborhood with Larkin.
Fashion wise I am SO OVER the heat. Yesterday, November 7th, it was almost in the 80s here! Not really boot and sweater weather. Well my whining paid off as today it’s much cooler, so my new Zara sweater came out of it’s box. These Toga Pulla boots are superb and various sizes are available on sale here.
We’re well and truly into the holiday flow. Lazy mornings with coffee and watermelon by the Med, followed by lazy afternoons with tea and olives by the Med. It’s no wonder we came back here. Boats come and go out of our cove and there isn’t another soul on our beach. I’m reading lots too and can’t recommend enough Johnny Marr’s autobiography ‘Set the Boy Free’ – I was sad to finish it – and you really don’t have to be a Smiths fan to enjoy it.
As for outfits I bought a couple of pairs of trousers off the local market which I’m enjoying wearing – organic cotton and made in Turkey – great souvenirs!
On Poppy – Dress – H&M // My dress – Zara // Shoes – Birkenstock // Earrings – Mango
Dress – ASOS // Earrings – J.Crew
T-shirt – Free People // Trousers – Datça market
Trousers – Datça market // Tank – H&M
This guy came to visit yesterday too…
I have a definitive list of items I want to buy on Friday. I’ve already made a couple of purchases from H&M as they have had some codes available since the weekend – but here is my list so far. I’ll of course publish a list of codes on Friday for you all!
So with H&M they have various deals each day this week but there is also a 20% off code with free shipping – 2806.
I can’t wait to try these imitation leather trousers – especially the navy pair.
There is definitely a theme here. These coated leggings in khaki are great and such a fabulous color. They are also available in black.
Moving on to COS – I am absolutely smitten with these drop crotch trousers. I am praying that they drop below the $125 price.
Another pair of drop crotch trousers – and to be fair it’s been a while since I’ve bought any harem trousers though my love for them runs deep. These sequin trousers could easily be worn year round with a t-shirt and denim jacket.
It’s been a while since I had a good trawl through ASOS and the other evening I was stopped in my tracks by this skirt. It’s beautiful, though I’m not sure how it will work on my thick waist. I’m willing to give it a go though if only because it’s camo!
These Pull & Bear velvet trousers are also in my cart waiting for Friday. Just perfect paired with sneakers and a graphic t-shirt.
Finally a little indulgence – definitely an investment. There are very few sizes left around the internet but Selfridges have the best price at the moment – here’s hoping they have Black Friday deals too. The Stella McCartney Elyse in rose gold. European brands are SO much cheaper in the UK stores than here in the US – compare $670 with $1,100!
So what’s on your list? High street brands? A designer splurge? Remember to check back later in the week once I have access to all the appropriate codes!
Sweater – H&M (similar here) // Jeans – Zara (old similar here) // Boots – TopShop (similar here) // Bag – Balenciaga
Trousers – J.Crew (similar here) // Sneakers – Nike Air Max // Blouse – H&M // Scarf – Boden (old similar here) // Jacket – Zara (old)
Jeans – J.Crew // Shoes – Zara (old) // Top – Everlane // Jacket – H&M (old similar here) // Bag – Proenza Schouler
It’s been unseasonably hot here this week – still reaching mid to high 80 degrees F! So no sweaters for me yet unfortunately! This morning however there is a breeze and leaves are starting to fall, so hopefully this is the start of our Fall! I’m pretty much over the heat! We have Fall Festival at school tomorrow and a Halloween party tomorrow night so I’m hoping some proper seasonal attire can be worn!
The Halloween party is always something I look forward to – our neighbor throws one hell of a party each year! The theme this year is raising the dead, and dressing as a celebrity who has departed. Well I am pretty sure there will be a few Princes and Bowies! My husband is going as Lemmy and I’ve taken an alternative route and will be dressing as Cecil the Lion – hopefully not too bad taste! Photos will be provided tomorrow obviously!
I was out on a school night this week and attended the RewardStyle blogger party on Tuesday evening – it was so much fun to meet other Atlanta bloggers, even if I was 20 years older than them!
Here I am with @Alyssadehayes and @RoseandFig.
I’m off shopping today and will be back in TopShop where I spotted these gems – the joggers are like last years camo ones that everyone raved about – they are SO soft! The jacket is gorgeous and here online in what they are calling grey – I actually prefer it to the black I saw in store.
On the 19th Dave and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary! Crazy how time flies when you’re having fun! It was a beautiful, hot day, and we were married and then partied at the Devonshire Arms near Bolton Abbey. We were both just starting new careers in London and we’d never have predicted where we are now.
The 19th this year was on a Monday – so that was a no no to a night out. Our children are night owls and would end up staying up later than we did if we had gone out! So it was a lovely lunch instead and then dinner out on Friday night.
In between celebrations it was a pretty regular week of work and meetings. Every Sunday I count my blessings that these days I love all my jobs – there were a number of years when Sunday evening depression crept in and Monday mornings were feared!
Skirt – Zara // Boots – Isabel Marant Dickers // Bag – Givenchy // T-shirt – Splendid // Denim vest – Target
Yes more new shoes – the only items in my closet guaranteed to fit me all year round, from year to year! I haven’t worn heels for a while so I was nervous about these but resistance was futile. I’ve ordered all 3 colors – if you are in the US you can get 20% off with WELCOME20
They are available in leopard, berry and black – I believe they also have khaki in store for those of you in the UK – I’d love to see those!
Given the height of them they are incredibly comfortable and I went for my regular UK 6 so I would say they are true to size.
It was a hectic weekend here in our house. On Saturday I hosted a brunch for my new business – it was wonderfully successful and a lot of fun! I wore my & Other Stories dress from the sale – I felt so feminine in it!
As for the past couple of days here’s what I have been wearing!
Shirt – H&M // Jeans – Zara (old) // Shoes – Zara // Bag – Stella McCartney (as above)
Dress – AllSaints Riviera // Jacket – Zara // Shoes – Adidas Gazelles // Bag – Stella McCartney (as above)
Oh and lastly check out these beauties from the new H&M Studio collection – they also come in red but most sizes are out of stock in that color – $149 for a pair of fabulous leather boots – I love them!
I hope you all had a great Bank Holiday weekend in the UK! We have our long weekend here this week for Labor Day. Labor Day traditionally signals the end of summer but in Georgia it will be in the 80s till well into October! Having said that the heat doesn’t stop me from thinking about all things Fall!
I’ve already ordered this awesome jacket. Zara have a similar version but I prefer the Mango one as the fabric is a short furry fabric…softer and more appropriate for leopard print – at least I think so!
I’ve also ordered these dresses. Yes I know, I know…I couldn’t decide which color so ordered both! Not to mention they are a great price. How cool will they look with a biker jacket or the jacket above to give them a little attitude!?
I did a little survey on these boots the other day on Instagram. I was torn – I love the blue but they are higher than the brown and pink. Both are stunning and perfect with dresses or jeans. I think I’m going for the higher blue pair…
These are on my MUST HAVE list for winter – but I will try and wait for these, hoping they won’t sell out!
Finally I have just ordered this sweater from Zara – it comes in mink, khaki and grey. How fabulous is it with either skinnies (with the boots above!) or boyfriend jeans – so slouchy.
Oh how I love dressing for Fall and Winter – I really do live in the wrong part of the world!
Poppy and I had fun the other day – I did my own #2 undercut – so easy, a little nerve wracking, but easier than anticipated!
Here’s what I’ve been wearing recently – making the most out of my dresses!
So the celebrations have ended, but definitely on a high note! I was greeted by the children with breakfast in bed on Wednesday morning – so lovely! Then it was off out for lunch with my husband, and maybe a glass of prosecco. I do love a long lazy lunch!
That evening we went out for dinner and cocktails. It is fun to go out on a school night but I certainly can’t do it every week! 45 is turning to out to be pretty fun so far!
Before we went on vacation my husband had someone drive into the back of him – we found out this week that the car had to be written off as a total loss. So sad! We had had both of our cars – a large sedan and an SUV for about 10 years and had planned to keep them till the wheels dropped off! Having no car payments was lovely but they were also expensive to maintain. I say ‘they’ as while my husband is looking for a new car we decided it was time to trade in my SUV. With more than 100k miles on the clock, and no longer needing to carry strollers and carseats around, I decided it was time for a little driving fun! I’ve ended up with my ‘dream’ ‘hot hatch’ – a Golf SE GTI! It’s manual too!! I haven’t driven a stick for 16 years (the sales guy on the test drive went a bit pale once I mentioned that….) but after missing a few gears, and a few gear crunches, it was like I’d always driven one! I LOVE it. It is so much fun! All I need now are some furry dice on the rearview mirror! Today I have mostly been reading car manuals!!
Top – Zara // Jeans – Zara (old) // Shoes – & Other Stories
Shoes – River Island (last year) // Shorts – Madewell (last year) // Top – Mango sale
Funnily enough my husband is STILL without a car…he is contemplating something fun and smaller too! Once again we’ll be the odd foreigners…driving small cars, in a neighborhood of SUVs, trucks and luxury sedans!
Yes I’ve spent the past week celebrating! It only happens once a year so why not!? Us Leos aren’t known for being shy and retiring either!
On Friday night I invited a few close girlfriends out for cocktails and tapas – it was perfect – such a fun evening.
With a mild hangover on Saturday, my fabulous family took me to me favorite Mexican spot for lunch and margaritas.
Tomorrow I’m being taken for lunch then dinner by my gorgeous husband. It’s a good job I’m back in the gym – Slimming World has been on hold this week 😉
As for this evening I’ll be cracking open one of my gifts – a bottle of champagne – and toasting the start of being 45 – my late 40s – and feeling better than ever!
