Items I’ve fallen for this week!

I haven’t done much shopping this month – really – I know it is partly from being sick with strep, but also I am well aware it is Dave’s 50th birthday on Sunday so obviously I am making sure it is a milestone that is marked with a little indulgence for him as opposed to me!

There are a couple of things, however, that I haven’t been able to resist!

The first are these amazing Jamie jeans from TopShop that Becky alerted me too. They are SO comfortable and super stretchy – I’m wearing a 30/32.

Obsessed with the new jeans @restyle_blog so stretchy and comfy! http://liketk.it/2pst6 @liketoknow.it #liketkit #thisis45 #pixiecut #nothingbutpixies #shorthair #liketkit #fbloggers #fbloggersuk #fblogger #ootd #wiwt #outfitpost #outfitinspo #instafashion #instastyle #40plusstyle #everydaystyle #over40fashion #mumontherun #dresslikeamum #ltkunder50 #ltkunder100 #ltkshoecrush

Jeans – TopShop // Shoes – Zara // Shirt – Mango // Bag – Givenchy

I absolutely love my Zara ballet flats and knew I had to have them in this deep ruby when I saw them appear online the other evening.

My favorite @zara shoes are now available in this gorgeous deep red!

Now for a surprise purchase – I REALLY didn’t like the Givenchy boots when I first saw them – I thought they were just too masculine compared to the ChloĆ© Susannas. Now, though, after seeing them on several Instagram feeds I love them – but I still think they are a trend that won’t last, so I really didn’t want to pay the Givenchy price. Then I discovered the TopShop dupes – but by then – yes I’m tardy – they had sold out on TopShop.com. Fortunately Nordstrom also stock TopShop – though usually they are a little delayed with new stock – so lucky for me the Amy boots have just arrived on Nordstrom and they are on their way to me! Nordstrom offer international shipping too so if you are desperate to find them outside the US then check them out here!

YES!!! I've found the bloody #givenchydupes from @topshop here online at last in all sizes!!! Check my link in bio or sign up here for a link directly to them http://liketk.it/2psvP @liketoknow.it #liketkit #topshopstyle #amyboot #thisis45 #pixiecut #nothingbutpixies #shorthair #liketkit #fbloggers #fbloggersuk #fblogger #ootd #wiwt #outfitpost #outfitinspo #instafashion #instastyle #40plusstyle #everydaystyle #over40fashion #mumontherun #dresslikeamum #ltkunder50 #ltkunder100 #ltkshoecrush

Here are a couple of outfits from the week – plus our Halloween costumes from the party at the weekend. It’s actually taken me till now to recover! I absolutely loved dressing up – I even think Dave is starting to enjoy it more each year!

The Halloween decorations are driving me insane already - actually it's the daft dogs barking at them that is driving me insane! Jacket and shirt are old from Mango, jeans are old from Zara and I'm wearing my favorite Zara flats after seeing them available in a gorgeous deep red! #thisis45 #pixiecut #nothingbutpixies #shorthair #liketkit #fbloggers #fbloggersuk #fblogger #ootd #wiwt #outfitpost #outfitinspo #instafashion #instastyle #40plusstyle #everydaystyle #over40fashion #mumontherun #dresslikeamum #ltkunder50 #ltkunder100 #ltkshoecrush

Fall has arrived!

It’s been unseasonably hot here this week – still reaching mid to high 80 degrees F! So no sweaters for me yet unfortunately! This morning however there is a breeze and leaves are starting to fall, so hopefully this is the start of our Fall! I’m pretty much over the heat! We have Fall Festival at school tomorrow and a Halloween party tomorrow night so I’m hoping some proper seasonal attire can be worn!

The Halloween party is always something I look forward to – our neighbor throws one hell of a party each year! The theme this year is raising the dead, and dressing as a celebrity who has departed. Well I am pretty sure there will be a few Princes and Bowies! My husband is going as Lemmy and I’ve taken an alternative route and will be dressing as Cecil the Lion – hopefully not too bad taste! Photos will be provided tomorrow obviously!

I was out on a school night this week and attended the RewardStyle blogger party on Tuesday evening – it was so much fun to meet other Atlanta bloggers, even if I was 20 years older than them!

Here I am with @Alyssadehayes and @RoseandFig.

So much fun with @alyssadehayes and @roseandfig at the RewardStyle school night

I’m off shopping today and will be back in TopShop where I spotted these gems – the joggers are like last years camo ones that everyone raved about – they are SO soft! The jacket is gorgeous and here online in what they are calling grey – I actually prefer it to the black I saw in store.

Halloween celebrations.

As with Christmas, Halloween celebrations seem to creep earlier and earlier each year. Ā I’m often buying Halloween costumes (yep buying – I am not a crafter – though I may surprise you this weekend) late in September, to avoid the slim pickings that are left in the penultimate week of October. Ā I think Halloween is growing on me – I don’t mind watching the children enjoy it – but it is still one of my least favorite ‘Holidays’ – just a smidgen less despised than Valentine’s Day.

Fortunately my Halloween celebrations began with a new delivery – though some of you may think these trousers should be relegated to a Halloween costume. Ā I love them. Ā I present to you the black Mango pleather/denim combi trousers. Ā These are the black – but yes I have the blue denim too. Ā The pleather is lovely and stretchy.

Colorblock jumper – Zara (similar here) // Knitted jacket – Zara // Black pumps/court shoes – Zara (old) // Sneakers – Golden Goose // Trousers – Mango chaps

I wore them last night to our local Halloween party where the children dressed up and rode a bucking pig. Ā Oh yes indeed, you read that correctly.

This morning was Fall Festival and this afternoon we have a Halloween party across the street. Ā It’s the perfect Fall day for hanging out with friends. Ā I promise a photo later with my Halloween costume:) Ā For now here’s what I’m chilling in.

Off Duty jumper

One last thing – here’s me trying on the beautiful Zara woolen wraparound coat. Ā I have this in a Large which I think is similar in sizing to a UK 12/US 8 – it is gorgeous and so soft.

Enjoy your Halloween celebrations this weekend! Ā I’d love to know what you go as for some inspiration for me for next year!:)

Entitled to a response.

So my friend told me not to look but I did and I suddenly remembered why I never visit Mumsnet.Ā  People are rude and mean from behind their laptops.Ā  All of us who blog know we don’t appeal to everyone – we don’t intend to.Ā  We don’t take ourselves too seriously – it really is just for fun – and we know we don’t always, by any means, get it right.Ā  Poppy’s Style is written to give you a light hearted look into my fashion, and sometimes life, choices…nothing more than that – I am no authority.Ā  To those of you who read and enjoy – thank you!Ā  We really appreciate your comments and friendship.Ā  Given I put myself out in the cyber world every day I guess a lesson for me is to toughen up a bit and appreciate some value in the negative comments.Ā  I’ll try, or I’ll just ignore them.

Okay rant over and I shall not be paying any more attention to the Mumsnet forums thank you!

Yesterday we had a fabulous time with a gymnastics recital in morning and a Halloween party in the afternoon – I still can’t get excited enough about Halloween to dress up but I did wear a dress!Ā  It’s the H&M tunic dress which I dressed down for being outside and teamed it with my Boden cashmere wrap from AW 2011, Target tights, Frye Phillip studded harness tall boot, and my Zara bordeaux scarf.Ā  Closet assembly is still in progress as you can see!

Enjoy your Sunday:) xx

At the Pumpkin Patch with the rest of GA!

Another beautiful, if busy day in Georgia.Ā  After an early rise and a quick Skype call to the UK we headed North to Burt’s Pumpkin Patch.Ā  With the rest of Georgia apparently.Ā  In hindsight yes it was madness to go on a Sunday two weeks before Halloween, but we did it.Ā  MM suffered the hay ride under duress and the kids loved it.Ā  Two pumpkins later and a 90 minute drive home we swore we would never head to Burt’s again.Ā  I’d rather grow my own pumpkins thanks.Ā  The pumpkins are now carved and will sit on my front doorstep rotting till the 31st…I’m now remembering all the reasons why Halloween is my least favorite Holiday.

For the trip I wore my H&M sweater dress – it’s the L.O.G.G. label and was just $25, with my favorite Zara bordeaux skinny jeans.Ā  Zara’s pants seem to be perfect these days – they have so much stretch it’s like wearing leggings.Ā  Along with every other girl in Dawsonville I had my cowboy boots on – these are Frye Carson pull-ons in fawn – some of the first Fryes that I owned.Ā  All topped off with an H&M nude sparkly scarf, and Prada sunglasses – I didn’t get the memo to take my mirrored wrap around sport shades – the most unflattering shades ever by the way.
