My picks of the J.Crew sale!

Normally when I blog about J.Crew I feel a pang of guilt as it is rare that the UK and the rest of the world benefit from the sales and regular discount codes we get in the USA. Well today my guilt is alleviated by the fact that J.Crew have a sale on in the UK too with up to 50% off!

I would rarely dress myself head to toe in J.Crew but recently there are certain pieces I have become obsessed with. Their denim is fabulous – my favorite jeans are all J.Crew. Boyfriend, skinny (toothpick) and cropped are all in my closet and I love them all. In the sale you can nab some amazing denim – event the point sur pieces are on sale, and in the US there is an EXTRA 30% OFF EVERYTHING, including sale items, using code GOSHOPPING. Also there have been many extra styles added to the sale today.

My denim picks are:

POINT SUR EPIC SKINNY JEAN IN DORAN WASH – reduced from $288 to $99, now with an extra 40% off with GOSHOPPING

Point sur

POINT SUR VINTAGE CROPPED JAPANESE SELVEDGE JEAN IN MEDRANO WASH – I have these and LOVE them – currently reduced from $288 to $99 with and extra 40% off with GOSHOPPING.

These dove grey jeans aren’t in the sale but I love them SO much I have ordered a second pair – they are currently 30% off with GOSHOPPING.

A classic that I have fallen in love with this season is the Regent blazer in linen. I just adore the popped collar and the silhouette of the jacket. It is really slimming. It does fit small and I wear a US 10 as the arms are pretty narrow.

Again the weathered coral pink isn’t in the sale but this is the first time I have seen it in stock online for some time – get 30% off with GOSHOPPING.

The autumn bluegrass, alpine moss and barley are all in the sale reduced to $129.99 from $178.00 plus get an extra 30% off with GOSHOPPING – truly a bargain not to be missed – these will be staples in your closet.

Now for shorts – I have had many compliments on the pairs I bought for vacation – now both styles are on sale.

I just love these metallic foil bermuda shorts – the ivory bronze are now $29.99 and the gunmetal navy are $39.99 – get an extra 40% off with GOSHOPPING – too good to miss! They remind me of my gorgeous DvF silver shorts that I wore to death 2 years ago…must dig them out when I get home!

The mosaic pull on shorts that I wore on our first night out here in N. Cyprus are now reduced to $39.99 with an extra 40% off with GOSHOPPING. I adore these – super cute with an elasticated waist and a modest length.

I’ve treated myself to a couple of lightweight popovers – just perfect with denim shorts or jeans.

This bengal stripe top is now $34.99, reduced from $78.00, plus get an extra 40% off with GOSHOPPING (also available in blue).

pink popover

This metallic stripe popover is reduced to just $19.99 from $89.50 – you think that is good? Go ahead an deduct another 40% with GOSHOPPING! I’m going to dress it down with jeans and hi-tops.

Lastly – accessories. I love their scarves – and I have found some great summer weight scarves to add to my collection. I love the pom poms!

This distressed scarf has no pom poms admittedly but I love this pink and the charcoal grey version is fabulous!

distressed scarf

This pom pom scarf is possibly my favorite – I just love the colors. It’s in the sale and now get an extra 60% off with GOSHOPPING!

Finally if you prefer a good neutral this is perfect – the dip dyed scarf. Now reduced to $49.99 plus an extra 40% off with GOSHOPPING.

My first shopping trip back in the UK!

Yes I’m here! Back in Bury! I had the quickest transatlantic flight ever on Thursday night thanks to 165 mile/hr tail winds! Unfortunately that meant there was little time for sleep on the flight so I spent yesterday feeling quite fuzzy and jet lagged. Nothing that a good sleep couldn’t fix thankfully. So this morning I was up bright and early ready to head into Bury with my Mum. The weather didn’t disappoint – snow, rain and wind as captured from the car this morning:

downloadFirst stop was M&S where I collected¬†the¬†flares that everyone is talking about. I haven’t tried them on yet but will keep you posted once I do. They are out of stock again online but Bury had several left on the racks in various sizes. Pop back online regularly too as when I ordered mine it looked like there had been a new delivery – so more may be expected. There is also 20% off online right now using this code FEB15EM till the 23rd February. By all accounts they fit true to size. (*update I got 12 regular and they fit great plus there are now 12s back in stock online!)

flaresI was really impressed with some of the clothes in M&S, even in our little Bury store. The shoes were what surprised me most though! These boots are such a fabulous ‘save’ version of my ‘splurge’ AllSaints Alba boot – just ¬£39.50 compared to the more than $200 (in the sale too!) that I paid for the Albas. The M&S version are also available in navy.

platform M&S boots M&S boot IMG_1879 IMG_1878When wearing them you would be hard pushed to tell the difference – and just to prove a point here are my Alba boots:

I snagged a great skincare bargain today as well with some Indeed Labs products. They are still listed at full price on the Boots website, but great value with the 3 for 2 offer. Plus the Hydraluron products in my local Boots store were all on clearance reduced to £12.50 from £24.99 AND they were 3 for 2 Рso make sure you check out your local stores too!

Hydraluron-Moisture-Jelly Hydraluron

As for what I have been wearing – well warm clothes mainly! I left Atlanta under a snow warning at 15 degrees Celsius and arrived in Bury to sleet and snow so thank goodness I packed the woolies! I did wear my new flares from ASOS the other day for running errands before I left. If you don’t mind distressed jeans these are superb, great value at $38.50, and stretchy with quite a high rise – these are a 29 and fit fabulously.

¬†They may not fit so well, however, after all the Monster Munch and pork pies that I am planning to consume while I am here ūüėČ

Summer blazers.

I wasn’t planning on posting today then I remembered that the Marks and Spencer 20% off offer ends today! ¬†I was browsing/researching their site last night, as I often do, and it led to me lusting over these beauties. ¬†Rarely can I head onto the M&S site these days without seeing something I love – especially in the Limited Edition range. ¬†They are certainly on an upward trend as far as I am concerned.

So here you go.  Sleeveless blazers.  Fabulous with jeans, culottes, palazzo pants or even a midi dress.  Perfect for giving an outfit a touch more shape.  I love the longer length ones in particular and I think the tailoring is very AllSaints.  I would wear the black one with a great pair of flared jeans.  At £47.20 they are a great price.  For free delivery to the US use code USDELIVERY when checking out.

long cream long black

This shorter version is lovely and would be great with denim shorts and a plain white tee.  The detailing at the back really makes it stand out for me.  Just £39.60 today.

Short sleeveless blazer

Finally, not sleeveless granted, but the color of this Zara blazer stopped me in my tracks.  Just stunning.  I can see it now with a white tank, light boyfriend jeans, bronzed feet, and tan strappy sandals.  Just fab.

So what do you think?  Swayed by the sleeveless look or the gorgeous fuchsia color?  Let me know if you take advantage of the M&S discount!

Jet lag.

Jet lag is crippling – I end up in a complete fog for 2 days. ¬†This will be exacerbated this year because our clocks change tonight. ¬†Thrilled about Spring being almost here, but I know the kids will be bouncing out of bed at 5am tomorrow morning, and after a party for 25 6 year olds today I might not be too keen on that! ¬†Hugh turned 6 on the 6th and I have never seen him so excited before. ¬†He has written a list of all the things he wants to do for his birthday and the party along with a trip to his favorite BBQ joint will complete it. ¬†Think of me this morning while I am bouncing on trampolines and whizzing down zip lines…

The outfits over the past couple of days have revolved around comfort – essential for jet lag recovery!

Spotted this week…

Following on from my previous post, and just to prove that procrastinating can sometimes pay off РI present to you my sequin skirt that is now on its way to me!  Not grey or blush Рbut a perfectly beautiful shade of indigo.  I hope it is as gorgeous in the flesh Рespecially as it was already in the sale and is currently an extra 50% off with code EXTRA50.

J.Crew sequin skirt:

Unlike a lot of people I know I have very little blue/navy in my closet but I have definitely noticed myself being more and more attracted to navy items. ¬†It’s such a classy color and many clothes look far more expensive, or even better quality, in navy than they do in black. ¬†Not to mention that it is now no longer a fashion faux pas to mix navy and black. ¬†Hence while browsing on Net-a-porter.com this morning I found myself uncontrollably besotted with these beauties. ¬†My Newbury boot fetish continues.

newbury navy suede

It’s been an odd week to say the least. ¬†An entire week off unexpectedly can certainly mess with your head – I feel slightly jet lagged and totally discombobulated! ¬†We’re off tomorrow too for President’s Day, then I have 3 days at work before I’m off to the UK wooo-hooo! ¬†Having the week off has been lovely as it has meant lots of time with the kids before I go and leave them. ¬†Hugh even fell asleep on me yesterday – it was lovely – I hope he still wants to snuggle like that when he is 18;)

Poppy and I braved the snow the other day – I needed to return some stuff to Zara.

Friday I enjoyed a day of pampering, though to be honest 2 hours in the salon followed by a 2 hour facial was probably a little too much in one day!

And here is the finished result – much lighter hair – still not convinced – but a nice change regardless.

And finally a new ASOS dress to share with you. ¬†It was in the sale and I’d been umming and ahhing about it all over the Christmas period. ¬†I love the lace sleeves – just enough for me – and it reminds me of the lace sleeves on my wedding dress.

It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas!

After a wild, fun night on Thursday, that ended later than expected at 3am, I headed out of the house on Friday to get the tree, again later than expected‚ĶThe kids were eager to decorate and for the first time ever I let them at it – all except the stringing of the lights that my OCD just couldn’t bear to let go of, not just yet anyway‚ĶI have to say they did a mighty fine job. ¬†Even our daredevil elf, Maximus, was suitably impressed.

IMG_4964 IMG_4968 IMG_4970

While we were waiting for the tree to be delivered I asked the children to write their lists for Santa.  As you can see Poppy was less than impressed for some reason, though Hugh had a blast writing his РI must teach him to do ditto marks next time poor lad!

Lists for Santa

Hat – Nordstrom // T-shirt – Zara (old) // Cardigan – AllSaints // Jeans – Zara coated jeans (similar here) // Boots – Frye Jane Tall boots

The house feels and smells so festive now – I love having the trees up – but it’s hard to believe it really is almost Xmas!! ¬†I haven’t sent cards yet or transferred the kids’ lists into my Amazon cart – thank goodness I had the foresight to photograph them before they were handed over to Santa!

Today I had a good run with Tennyson in the drizzle – the boy is a trouper – 4 miles in the wet and cold was not was not what he was expecting as he bounded out of the door! ¬†I then enjoyed a good old family day watching football and Christmas movies while indulging with peppermint bark and hot chocolate…I think a run will be required most days in this run up to the 25th!

Outfit catch up.

First of all my Golden Goose arrived!! Yay!!! SO fast!! But boo!! Bugger they are too big!! I ordered 39s Рboth my other pairs are 39s Рbut these leopard print ones are ENORMOUS! So off they go back, with the 38s on their way to me. Why must a brand be so inconsistent with sizing?  The good thing is they are lovely Рquite muted and not too loud at all Рif you can say that for leopard print:)

It’s definitely Fall here now – the jeans and boots are out in full force, along with scarves – it’s very exciting! ¬†This weekend we have Fall break from school too so it should be fun packed with play dates for Poppy and Hugh, and Mom and Dad:)

Today I am wearing – shock, gasp, horror – lots of ‘old’ stuff. ¬†My Boden drop shoulder jumper (from the clearance), Gap camo jeans, Zara scarf and grey Newbury boots. ¬†Look at that turf behind me! ¬†We have a whole new yard to enjoy – no more rotting swing set causing a hazard to anyone!

Monday saw me in my new H&M ‘coatigan’, Fayza jeans, Vince Ninas and an old Zara black tee. ¬†The sunglasses are Chanel from last year (similar here).

Tuesday I wore my fabulous leopard print hat, old AllSaints tee, old J.Crew jacket (similar here), camo jeans from Gap and my canvas Newbury boots. ¬†Yes, yes, yes – quite a few ‘older’ loved items coming back out for Fall!

Yesterday I eventually changed into my Boden St. Ives jumper, Fayza jeans, Havaianas and J.Crew wool cap РI was very lazy and worked from home while some burley men worked in the yard laying the turf:)  Sorry for the fuzzy photo РI think I was still shaking after a tabata session in spin class РI thought I might actually hurl it was such hard work!

Unfortunately we underestimated the amount of turf we needed so they’ll be back next week to finish the job…

My weekend starts tonight with a girls’ night out – margaritas and tacos – I can’t wait!

Off to the Braves!

Not really pool weather here today so we’ve decided to head off to watch the baseball. ¬†I love going to Turner Field. ¬†It’s even more fun now the kids are old enough to sit through the whole 9 innings – as long as I take enough snacks to feed an army. ¬†I ran this morning so I’ve earned my pretzel and beers:)

It’s hot here but last time I wore shorts to the Braves game I sweated like a very sweaty thing on the plastic seats – nasty – I walked out looking like I’d had an accident…so today it’s neon jeans in an effort to stay cooler, or at least drier on the plastic seats! ¬†The planning that goes into an outfit can never be underestimated!

Jeans – Gap neon flamingo // Sneakers – Golden Goose Francy // T-shirt – Zara (old)

Before I start chanting at the Ted – as I was perusing the Boden Preview (20% off PRV3) yesterday, I thought I’d take a gander at the clearance section for this season. ¬†There are so many fabulous items currently discounted. ¬†I grabbed three sweaters that, in my eyes, are absolute bargains for the coming Fall.

This Cashmere crew neck in almond is divine Рreduced from $148 to $88.80 Рa bargain for cashmere.  If it works out I may order more colors.

I’ve had my eye on this drop shoulder jumper in yellow all season and now it’s reduced to just $34 so I snapped up the yellow and the silver thank you very much.

Finally today is a very important day for a very dear friend – Happy 40th Birthday Mrs. School Gate Style – you’ll love your 40s I promise!

Gwen’s love for Zara.

My fellow blogger, Hollie, and I are both great admirers of Gwen Stefani’s eclectic rock and roll style – she always looks perfectly put together. ¬†Her make up and hair are always immaculate, even for a trip to the park with her sons. ¬†It was while Hollie and I were chatting about Gwen the other day that I realized Gwen is a fan of Zara! ¬†I have spotted her in three Zara items just this weekend – who’d have thought it? ¬†Gwen obviously embraces pairing high and lower end items – good for her!

Two of the items also happen to be in my closet – no surprise there. ¬†The first is the sarong skirt – I love how she has styled this over leggings…There’s a David Bowie t-shirt on Asos that I have been umming and ahhing about for a while now – it could be the perfect tee to replicate this look.

gwen-stefani-on-stage-rolling-stones-los-angeles Gwen 1

Next up is my jacket last worn here. ¬†Now I’m not necessarily a fan of her styling here but each to their own…though if I was Italian I’d wear that t-shirt in a heartbeat.

Finally I spotted this photo of her wearing these Zara pants¬†heading to Chuck E. Cheeses – please Gwen how could you bear to step foot in there? ¬†I’d rather stick pins in my eyes.

These photos of Gwen always make me want to to wear red lipstick more often and I’m pretty sure images of her have influenced my choice of attire today.

Finally – I think my children are trying to tell me something – buying these cards obviously amused the Husband no end…I hope you all had a fabulous Mother’s Day!
