One of my great friends is leaving Atlanta to begin her new life with her fiancé in Charlotte. To wish her on her way several of her girlfriends attended a lovely luncheon on Saturday. In true Southern style we drank Arnold Palmers and ate chicken salad. Poppy was lucky enough to be invited along and at one point burst into the room saying “thank goodness you’re all quiet at last!”. We were listening to a pastor give a blessing. My poor daughter has inherited my social clumsiness. Of course she has also inherited some charm and managed to smile sweetly, alleviating any awkwardness:)
Shoes – Hanna Andersson clogs (on sale) // Dress – H&M
Dress – Asos (on sale) // Clutch – Boden // Shoes – Clogs by Lotta of Stockholm
On Friday evening my Husband and I went out for dinner to The Floataway Café – another of our favorites. It’s a bit out of the way for us so we always drive there instead of cabbing it, so it was quite a tame evening for us:) Another shocker is that I didn’t wear anything new!
Shoes – Marks and Spencer (old) // Trousers – Zara (old) // Cami – J.Crew (old) // Blazer – Marks and Spencer (oldish) // Clutch – YSL (old)
However, during the day on Friday I wore my new River Island dress. The fabric is so comfortable and I got so many compliments on it – it is loud though, so it is hard not to be noticed in it!

I have a crazy week of packing for two climates before the children and I leave for Bury this weekend! The 2014 vacation countdown is on!
Gosh your trip to the UK has come around SO quickly. Have a safe flight.
How lovely that yourself and poppy got to dress up and go to a party
Hi Joanna!
I am coming to the States on holiday from the UK and want to do mucho shopping!! Which brands do you think are a bargain ? J Crew, golden goose, mac make up? What should I look out for? Thank you! Melissa x
Hi Melissa!!! It really is a juggling act these days that deserves some research! The UK is getting so cheap now for high street brands that there is sometimes little in it when you add on the sales tax here that isn’t in the sticker price. High end goods are normally much cheaper here though as well as high end makeup. Sneakers are cheaper too – and of course US brands like Sam Edelman shoes and J.Crew. I wrote a post here some time ago that may help – but let me know if you have questions about specific items!! Have fun shopping!! xxxx https://poppys-style.com/2014/02/08/buy-uk-vs-usa/
Just loading lots of movies on ipads for the kids – hopefully going that way they will crash and sleep while I enjoy a book and a glass of wine:)
Poppy looks so cute! Can’t beat H&M for kidswear in my book! Love you in the River Island dress….it’s stunning xx
She loves her H&M – grown up but still appropriate in my eyes:)
Just had a look at the hanna Anderson website. Some fab stuff for the children. Shame shopping is so expensive to the uk.
Love the river island dress on you.
I’m amazed they don’t have stores there as they are much closer to the UK than here! It isn’t cheap here though – so I only buy in the sale for Poppy! x
Love that picture of you and Poppy. Home soon, I bet you can’t wait for our rubbish weather! Safe flight hun xx
It better not be rubbish!! I keep seeing photos of sunny skies over there!! x

Oh I will Helen – we’re not there for that long this year as we are off to Cheltenham and London too – hurrah!! xx
Love that R I dress on you, they have some really fab pieces at the moment x
They do and they are great value and so easy to wear! x
God, you two girls look good! I adore both your dresses but I think I ‘need’ your floral one Joanna, the summer equivalent of our check one?!, I love, love, love it!! and your black and yellow one, you have super duper style xxx
The floral one will look amazing on you Frances – it is a great summer version of our flannel one! xx
Hi Joanna, I like all the pretty dresses. So summery! I have a pair of Hasbeen clogs I never end up wearing because I feel like I’m in the 70’s. Any suggestions on how to style them for a slightly edgier, not boho-y look? All I’ve come up with is pairing them with skinnies. Thanks!
Hi Sara – I love clogs- they are great for leg lengthening and super comfortable! I love to wear mine with shorts of any kind or even shorter skirts with just a plain t-shirt. Boyfriend jeans work well too. I’d just be careful not to wear anything too fussy up top as clogs draw a lot of attention to your legs so you don’t want to compete with them. I’m sure Pinterest has some great inspiration as well – I get sucked in all the time searching for new looks! xx
Poppy is such a mini me here! Your new hai is just gorgeous Joanna, u make me want to chop mine off!! Love that River Island dress too.
