Week 2 in Datça

We’re well and truly into the holiday flow. Lazy mornings with coffee and watermelon by the Med, followed by lazy afternoons with tea and olives by the Med. It’s no wonder we came back here. Boats come and go out of our cove and there isn’t another soul on our beach. I’m reading lots too and can’t recommend enough Johnny Marr’s autobiography ‘Set the Boy Free’ – I was sad to finish it – and you really don’t have to be a Smiths fan to enjoy it.

As for outfits I bought a couple of pairs of trousers off the local market which I’m enjoying wearing – organic cotton and made in Turkey – great souvenirs!

What’s in my shopping carts right now?

Being away for 4 weeks at a time means I have to practice patience. Not one of my strengths – but I don’t want items turning up at home, or being ‘held’ by USPS for days at a time. I can of course get them shipped to the office, but that, in past years, has resulted in several VERY embarrassing piles of boxes waiting on my desk. You don’t really need all your colleagues watching your sale items stack up! 😉

So here is a collection of things I have juggling in and out of my carts…I’m bound to hit order before I get on the runway home.

These I have actually ordered as I know they will sell out – the Nike Vapormax in blush – they are just beautiful and they are available here and here. I have them in platinum and they are so flattering on the foot.

Staying with sneakers TheOutnet.com just had a bunch of Golden Goose arrive. Sizes are selling out fast but there will be returns.

Now for ASOS – browsing on ASOS is not good for me – I always find something I love. This skirt is beautiful – I have it in red and the pink will be gorgeous with my tan and the above mentioned Golden Goose. I sized down to a US 8 as it has an elastic waistband.

I can never say no to a pair of harems either and these Reebok sweats are new in.

H&M are killing it at the moment – their color palette this season is spot on with so many oranges and reds. There’s a heavy Marant influence too.

I love this orange embroidered top and the price is great.

Fitted items don’t normally work for me with H&M’s tiny sizing but I’ve ordered this blouse anyway to try – just to beat myself up with when it doesn’t fit 😉

I love this skirt – so pretty worn with either of the tops above (this is the black version of the orange top).

Several of my UK blogging friends have these mules – they look gorgeous. Check them out on EveWornOut and TheFrugality.

This Gap dress is currently reduced from $79.95 to just $19.99 and it comes in black too. It’s a perfect light vacation dress for evening wear and really easy to pack.

Finally – a couple of other gorgeous cheap and cheerful skirts from Old Navy. Just over $18 and available in navy, black or white. I normally size down at Old Navy as the fit big.

How’s your sale shopping going? Mine is virtually non existent – I really haven’t been tempted – I must be ill…

My month in Turkey!

Hi all! I’m sitting at the house in Turkey after finally being able to access the blog via VPN! Turkey for some reason thinks I have a political agenda and won’t let me access my site here!

I’ll try posting an update of vacation outfits shortly but in the meantime you can follow all my adventures on Instagram at instagram.com/poppysstyle

Get an extra 20% off sale prices!

It’s that time of year where I resist, resist, resist….ah shucks big fat fail. Those sales emails sure know their clickbait…

One of my favorite online stores is now reducing sale items by a further 20% on check out – so here are my favorite items…

First what I failed with – and I’m sorry there are very few sizes left! The Rick Owens peep toe boot – already reduced by 60% then with an extra 20% too good to refuse, especially in this fabulous grey goat leather – very urban and distinctive compared to the usual black leather.

I am still a HUGE fan of Isabel Marant’s Bobby sneaker. I already have 2 pairs – cream and burgundy both bought reduced off TheOutnet.com. There is something about the cut around the ankle that is so elegant – it sits beneath the ankle bone so it they are really flattering and feminine. These in red are stunning – imagine this color with tanned legs and denim shorts – lush!

Her Leo ballet flat is a classic and again already reduced with an extra 20% at check out – various sizes left.

In caramel

khaki –

and black

Then there are her boots – I totally love these as they are so reminiscent of the 80s pixie boot – perfect with slouchy boyfriend jeans or skinnies.

The Etoile Ralf in taupe

in brown:

In black it appears to be called the Raelyn

I’ve ordered them in this camel as I love the color of my Dickers.

Covering all bases they are also available in khaki

If you crave a little embellishment and eccentricity in your footwear i.e. the antithesis of Isabel Marant its worth checking out the Miu Miu sale collection, though sizes are sparse…

Finally I always lust after Stella McCartney shoes – I just nabbed a pair of Elyse platforms in the Neiman Marcus sale but there are lots of sizes left here too. You’ve seen me in these before.

So some footwear heaven for you! I’ll be mostly in flip flops for the next month as we leave for Turkey next week – packing is not going well…I’m crap at creating a capsule wardrobe! This week has been spent walking and lunching with my son – he’s pretty good company!

Jeans – Current Elliot (reduced here) // Loafers – Gucci // Top – ASOS // Jacket – J.Crew

Dress – Old Navy // Shoes – Zara (in sale) // Jacket – H&M // Bag – Mansur Gavriel

My picks of the J.Crew sale

I love J.Crew but never pay full price…right now you can their sale is on and there are some gems if you are quick.

I’ve just ordered these knitted tops – knit may not seem the coolest in the summer but it actually is breathable and hangs beautifully without clinging. Get an extra 40% off all sale prices with HELLOSALE at checkout.

These are really cute -wear them with denim shorts or jeans.

These signet bags are the perfect size and already reduced – with the 40% off that makes them a steal for real leather classics. The pewter and pink are on sale.

Finally this seersucker jumpsuit is gorgeous – great beach to bar attire.

I wore J.Crew the other night to watch Mamma Mia with Poppy – I felt suitably boho in it and got compliments from the ushers! The show was fabulous by the way, and yes I did dance my socks off!

Dress – J.Crew // Sandals – Marks and Spencer

Top – Zara // Sunglasses – Stella McCartney (reduced here) // Shorts – Madewell // Sneakers – Vans // Earrings – J.Crew Factory

Skirt – ASOS // Shoes – Golden Goose // T-shirt – Mango

Changes I’m making

Today I swam 30 x 25 meter lengths at the pool, and I reached my step goal with an evening walk around the neighborhood. I rarely go for a walk – it’s normally a run – but I was buzzing when I got home. There’s something so calming about a walk to good music, seeing neighbors, and local flora and fauna. If not for physical health, I plan to make it a daily event for my mental health. These Fitbit things are quite compelling – at least the novelty factor is working! I’m actually astounded that, even when surrounded by pastry products, toffee and lovely baked goods in the UK, I have managed to shed 5lbs while I was away.

Becky swears by her Fitbit so I ordered this one – the Fitbit Alta HR – for statistic nerds like me it is great – plus I didn’t realize that it was so social and you can motivate (compete) with others in various groups you join.

What I’ve bought back in the UK…

The exchange rate is good for traveling to the UK and with tax free shopping easier than ever I’ve enjoyed a bit of shopping this side of the pond.

From Mango I purchased this linen jacket that I’ve had my eye on for a while – very Miami Vice.

Mango linen jacket

Then this set has been on my radar for a while too – I was worried the top would be too cropped but the adjustable ties make it perfect. The trousers have an elastic waist – just perfect!

Of course knickers and bras are a must from good old M&S. If you are in the US you can order via their website here and use Welcome20 for 20% off.

I have bought THE most comfortable bras and in such pretty colors – these packs of 2 are such brilliant value.

I also purchased a couple of multi way bras which are so supportive – I’m thrilled with them.

These ballet flats were hard to resist – I did try but I went back for them – the leopard and zebra are now in my bag. I think they are very J.Crew. By the way try code MY6F238 in the UK – it might give you 20% off.

I had a beautiful dress ordered from & Other Stories – unfortunately it just didn’t work on my boobs. I exchanged it for these trousers – so fluid and drapey – I have a Eur 38 so they are pretty generous and they have an elastic waist.

Finally I am thrilled with these final purchases – my Primark Manchester t-shirt – I can’t find it online but it’s lovely – I will wear it with pride.

These are very polarizing – and I LOVE them – I promised myself I would buy them here in the UK as they are cheaper in £ and Selfridges have a VAT lounge where I got my VAT refunded on the spot. I sized down half a size to 38.5. They remind me of my Patrick Cox Wannabe loafers from the early 90s.

So quite a good shopping haul – but more fun than that has been catching up with my lovely friends (pictured below @SusieSoSo @Iwontwearsludgebrown @Restyle-Becs @DizzyV) and family. Now back to the arms of my lovely husband and to start preparations for a month in Turkey!

And so summer begins…

It’s the last day of school here. Yes the last of the year. This week has been challenging to say the least. We’re always pulled in so many directions with end of year projects (errr why when we shut down brains in April after testing?), chorus recitals, plays, parties, field day and graduations. My son was upset I missed his end of year party yesterday – well I was working, but that didn’t stop my guilt! We’re tired and cranky – and mom hasn’t stopped crying since Monday night when the East Coast started getting the news of the Manchester bombing.

Last night, Dave and I decided to take a breath. We went out for dinner, alone, quietly, and indulgently. I ate oysters, peaches and steak and drank san pellegrino. Today I feel a little calmer, a little less emotional but still with a tonne of shit to do before the kids and I head off to Manchester on Saturday for a couple of weeks. I’m super excited about seeing everyone but feel there is a mountain of stuff to do before I get to that departure gate!….and inhale….

I haven’t done much shopping this week – truthfully I’m all shopped out for the summer given after the UK I have about 8 weeks of bikini wearing. That hasn’t stopped me window shopping though and here are some gems I’ve found for you. The Gap are rocking it this season with tops and dresses (including the one I’m wearing below) – these are some favorite items and everything is 50% off with an extra 20% using MORE.

These linen shorts are already reduced and will be cheap as chips with the code applied – size down.

I have this top in all 3 colors in a large – it is beautiful.

This is the dress I am wearing below in red – it’s beautiful and has pockets.

This dress is new in and I’ve just ordered it.

I love this bag – so chic.

Their scarves are all reduced and several are already on sale.

Looking for an Isabel Marant inspired belt? Just $14 plus another 20% off…

I’ve just ordered this hat (so much for being over shopping…)

These linen shirts are perfect – I have size large and they fit brilliantly across the bust.

On to some other bargains – TheOutnet.com has lots of Stella McCartney and Proenza Schouler bags heavily discounted.

Soludos has a sale on at the moment too – I just received these lovely espadrilles – so cute!

There’ll be lots more codes released over the weekend so I will try and keep you posted before I leave!

Shoes – Stella McCartney // Dress – Gap (discounted) // Bag – Gucci (similar here)// Earrings – J.Crew (30% off with SWEET)

Summer slippers.

These are the most beautiful shoes. A fabulously perfect pink hue, with great leather, a feminine cut and dainty pointed toe. I have them in sage green too.

Shoes – Everlane // Culottes – Uniqlo // Top – Free People (on sale here) // Sunglasses – Gucci // Earrings – Mango

They are available in bone white and black too.

I actually think they are the PERFECT city shoe – a pair of shoes that you can throw in your bag for the office and wear when you’re dashing around on foot from office to tube/subway etc. Far more elegant than sneakers or flip flops! If you have a wide foot like me I advise sizing up half a size – I’m a true US 8.5 and these are a US 9.

It’s a crazy time of year here – Poppy turns 11 on Thursday, school finishes next Thursday, then we’re off to the UK for fish and chips, natters with good friends, a bit of rain and Revels and chocolate buttons 😉

Last Sunday was Mother’s Day here and we had our first morning at the pool followed by a delicious family lunch. They treated me well.

Dress – & Other Stories // Earrings – & Other Stories // Bag – Coach // Shoes – Stella McCartney

Then catching up from previous days…A week ago I had one of my brilliant partners from Rodan + Fields in town and I was invited to present. It was a blast speaking from the heart about my passion for the brand and the energy in the room was wonderful – we gained lots of new consultants that evening who can now join in the fun! I got my glad rags on for the night and wore Victoria Beckham by Target intentionally – why not channel another female power house if that’s where your sights are set!?
