What’s in my shopping carts right now?

Being away for 4 weeks at a time means I have to practice patience. Not one of my strengths – but I don’t want items turning up at home, or being ‘held’ by USPS for days at a time. I can of course get them shipped to the office, but that, in past years, has resulted in several VERY embarrassing piles of boxes waiting on my desk. You don’t really need all your colleagues watching your sale items stack up! 😉

So here is a collection of things I have juggling in and out of my carts…I’m bound to hit order before I get on the runway home.

These I have actually ordered as I know they will sell out – the Nike Vapormax in blush – they are just beautiful and they are available here and here. I have them in platinum and they are so flattering on the foot.

Staying with sneakers TheOutnet.com just had a bunch of Golden Goose arrive. Sizes are selling out fast but there will be returns.

Now for ASOS – browsing on ASOS is not good for me – I always find something I love. This skirt is beautiful – I have it in red and the pink will be gorgeous with my tan and the above mentioned Golden Goose. I sized down to a US 8 as it has an elastic waistband.

I can never say no to a pair of harems either and these Reebok sweats are new in.

H&M are killing it at the moment – their color palette this season is spot on with so many oranges and reds. There’s a heavy Marant influence too.

I love this orange embroidered top and the price is great.

Fitted items don’t normally work for me with H&M’s tiny sizing but I’ve ordered this blouse anyway to try – just to beat myself up with when it doesn’t fit 😉

I love this skirt – so pretty worn with either of the tops above (this is the black version of the orange top).

Several of my UK blogging friends have these mules – they look gorgeous. Check them out on EveWornOut and TheFrugality.

This Gap dress is currently reduced from $79.95 to just $19.99 and it comes in black too. It’s a perfect light vacation dress for evening wear and really easy to pack.

Finally – a couple of other gorgeous cheap and cheerful skirts from Old Navy. Just over $18 and available in navy, black or white. I normally size down at Old Navy as the fit big.

How’s your sale shopping going? Mine is virtually non existent – I really haven’t been tempted – I must be ill…

Starting 2016 the right way

I was reading Nikki over at Midlifechic.com the other day. Her Project Happier really struck a chord with me.

I am a naturally outgoing person, being a Leo, and mostly love being around other people. I would say 90% of the time I am naturally happy and I always tend to take things in my stride. Over the past couple of years though that remaining 10% has raised it’s ugly head more regularly than I’d like.

I think I’ve always felt a sense of loss since moving to Atlanta. As much as I love living here, grief at having ‘lost’ my life in the UK can occur. It’s a sense of ‘loss’ and ‘being lost’. In 2015 I think it was exacerbated by my melanoma diagnosis. As amazing as my husband and family are, it was trying going through something so traumatic away from ‘home’. I went on anti-depressants for a while which ultimately led to a 40lb weight gain in a very short period of time. At the end of the year I decided the pills weren’t really needed and that the weight gain was probably exacerbating any ‘sadness’ I was experiencing. So I am starting 2016 with my own ‘Project Happiness’. I’m going to tackle that troublesome 10% and flip it to HAPPY!

I’ve started with a clean eating program – Whole30. I’ve always exercised frequently – if you follow on Instagram myself and a few others still use #PSFitClub for motivation. It’s now time to fix my food intake. I yo-yo a lot and I LOVE food. Living in the South with fried grits, biscuits and fried chicken does not help! So instead of following a ‘diet’ I have immersed myself in what I hope will be a ‘lifestyle’ change. In fact I have just taken the kids to their favorite diner for breakfast before school resumes tomorrow, and as torturous as I knew it would be watching them consume pancakes and syrup and vanilla milkshakes, I actually really enjoyed my omelette with sliced tomato. Honest! Whole30 isn’t supposed to be about weight loss – more to do with resetting your digestive system and ridding yourself of sugar cravings, but I’m hoping with the workouts I will be on the right path to regaining my svelte figure in a healthy manner. It’s also supposed to help your mind too – it really is compelling reading. I’ll keep you posted and my Instagram will give you a glimpse of my daily eating and challenges if you are interested!

An homage to Aerosmith.

You’ll either love them or you’ll hate them.  For me they are a throw back to the late 70’s early 80’s when everyone was pouring a bottle of bleach in their bathtub with their skin tight jeans – well at least we were in Bury!  They are the tie dyed jeans from H&M and I think they are fun though not for the faint of heart.  It didn’t occur to me until I got to work that paired with my Ash Bowies I am actually resembling someone from an 80s hair band – without the big hair admittedly though I’m close to it thanks to the downpour I walked through to the office.  One of my friends at university used to wear something very similar, though his jeans were completely bleached and he wore Reebok white hi-tops with them – classy.  His jeans were so tight I often wonder if he ever had a family.  Keeping it simple with the loud jeans I opted for my white Express t-shirt and the lovely All Saints Boston cardigan that I got in the sale back in England in June.  Loving that I can start to get some knitwear out again.

Yesterday I wore my Zara snake print top from the sale, black Gap jeggings and my favorite Fryes of the moment – the Jenna short studded – they are so soft I love them.

Taking the children for a play date after school today so looking forward to their Mom’s reaction to my jeans:)
