Thursdays are my Fridays – I’m very lucky to have Friday as ‘my day’. If the rain steers clear tomorrow I plan on trying to run 8miles for the first time in months. I have a half coming up in October, which on the calendar looks really close now! Then it’ll be time for the half at Thanksgiving and before I know it Miami will be looming…can I handle it? One thing is for sure I am eating like a horse again with all this running. My resolution is to at least try to eat like a healthy horse.
Have any of you ever responded to a Facebook offer? I was a little skeptical when I first saw ‘xyz has just redeemed and offer at abc’ appear on my news feed but today for the first time I acted on one and bought a necklace. I have been looking for a while at the J.Crew bubble necklace but there are some things I just won’t spend $150 on – costume jewelry is one of those things. I’ve found lots of copy cats on eBay and Etsy.com but still some of them are $30 and above, and seem a bit risky to chance. Well today I saw an offer at Lovely Lola Boutique and with shipping the necklace is just $14.90 – so I ordered 2! You have to make a separate order for each necklace but at $14.90 it seemed too good to miss and well worth the risk…I’ll keep you posted when they arrive – though it sounds like it’ll be late September as there are just two girls packing and shipping! This is not an endorsement as I have no affiliation with them – so fingers crossed that the necklaces are as fab as I hope!
The pink one would have looked great with my outfit today. I’m wearing my green J.Crew shorts (in the sale at $35), an old H&M top, Zara off white jogging jacket and my Frye Carson button shorts. Had to dash out of the house this morning to carpool so the photos were taken in the office bathroom! Sorry!
This morning as I dropped off Hugh, one of the teachers at daycare told me I looked a different person from when I was taking Poppy there 5 years ago…I have to agree I don’t recognize that person anymore either.
Whose boots? Frye? Love them… have been cruising the web for new boots!
You will be fine tomorrow. Just pace yourself and listen… if you need to slow down, just do!
I did 8 last week after not having run that far in weeks. It was the best run!
p.s. Miami is so on! We are going to rock it out! I actually thought about that this morning while running. The end will be hard, but we can do this!
Yes Frye! You can get the cheaper at the moment on 6pm.com – owned by Zappos.com – I think it is like their outlet store.
Really looking forward to my run tomorrow – like you say will just take my time and enjoy it – going to download some new music for it! It might be cooler too with Isaac passing by. SO hope I can get the miles up – really want to rock it in Miami!!! We’ll have a blast! xx
Joanna, I’ve read it before but it’s still incredible to see the journey you’ve been on and to read your honest account of it all. I just cannot connect the old photos with the girl I know today.
Hope you have a great run tomorrow – it is usually surprisingly easy after a break. I always found the second run harder so make it a shorter one. Avril x
Thanks Avril – I can’t connect the 2 people either – physically or psychologically!! I never really saw that person when I looked in the mirror – my perception was totally warped.
Looking forward to the run – I plan on downloading some new tunes to help:) x
Amazing transformation and well done for maintaining it – I gained a ton of weight when I moved over here, between the food and the constant driving to everywhere and then getting pregnant before I knew it I was huge!! Finally got down to an acceptable level a couple of years ago and am now fighting to get rid of the 10lbs that have crept back on in the interim – have promised myself new jeans and boots as a reward when I can get back below 140lb – no new clothes till then!!! Enjoy the run:-)
Thanks and good for you Pauline – there is no wonder the US has an obesity epidemic with the lifestyle that is encouraged here! You’re right – the driving doesn’t help – I must have walked 5 miles a day in London without realising it – here in Atlanta we can’t walk anywhere! 10lbs will be easy…I’m drinking my hot water and lemon as we speak:)
You take picture of yourself in public bathrooms?
Eric – I’ll photograph myself anywhere lol – no modesty here:) Don’t worry no one else was in there at the time – I get into the office too early:)
She isn’t alone…a ton of personal style bloggers do that. 🙂 BTW, most women wouldn’t even care if they walked in on that. I can’t even tell you how many times I have been washing my hands next to a woman and been all, “ooh, I love your shoes, etc.”
LOL – nothing should surprise Eric after I worked for him:)
The before and after pictures really do look like two different people, well done on maintaining the weight loss, loving your Zara blazer, I went on their website earlier and they have lots of fab knitwear, trousers and blazers which I am coveting for autumn/ winter. Also have you ever tried cos or massimo dutti, they have some fab pieces too.
Diane
Can’t get Cos or Massimo Dutti here right now though I head Massimo is opening a store in NYC soon…I have 4 Zara blazers in my cart right now lol – holding off till it gets cooler here! x
Wow! What a transformation! I’m a new-ish reader of your blog and I just wanted to say you (and Avril) are inspiring me to up my game in the style stakes! You in particular have also inspired me to chop my hair too – am now short and loving it! Having seen your older pics, I have to say your short hair rocks – it really suits you!
I’ve just started a new part-time job and Fridays are my day too – must get back to running!
Welcome and thanks so much fro reading and commenting – it means so much to me to hear from people! Avril is a great friend and it is lovely to have some virtual camaraderie – we keep each other on our toes:) So glad you are loving the short hair style – I love having short hair – it really stands out over here as most women seem to have long hair especially in the South. Please keep commenting – I love to hear from people and thanks again for reading. J xx
I just saw from your blog you are in Dundee! I met my Husband in St. Andrews at university 20 odd years ago – we lived on top of the Central Bar and worked there:) Spent many a Tuesday night ‘raving’ in Fat Sams in Dundee:) Not surprised you’re not running to much – the weather doesn’t help lol!
Hijacking Joanna’s blog a bit but how lovely to read this comment!! All chuffed. Part of the enjoyment of this blogging lark has been meeting other lovely bloggers like Joanna and sharing the journey with them. So encouraging to get compliments like this – I’ve found the past week hard work with the blogging so this and another 2 emails I received have really helped me to find my blogging mojo again! Thank you Jules x
You look GOOD in those shorts. Wow!
And good luck with your 8 mile run tomorrow. I can’t even imagine doing that. Mabe walking, but definitely not running. 😉
Those bubble necklaces are pretty, definitely let us know what you think!
I will – the only downside is that so many people will have them now they can be obtained cheaply…but makes me even happier I didn’t spend $150!!
Joanna… Ordered the Hasbeens! Off to look at your Frye’s!
So exciting – the zippered ones? Can’t wait to see them!!!
Not the zippered… too much for the budget as I had to buy new Newton’s. I ordered the classic slip on in black. Think I’ll wear them all winter, just hope they fit.
