Yes it’s chaos here! Last week of school done – with the odd day off sick for Poppy – uuurgh. All healthy now thankfully so we are ready to throw ourselves into the festivities! So far we have tickets for Star Wars, and an intimate gig with Lloyd Cole lined up – I’m not sure which I am more excited about. Lloyd possibly – especially after singing his greatest hits full blast in the car yesterday! So before we all sink further into the festive mayhem here is a quick outfit round up from the last few days!

Partywear!
Yet again I have very few Christmas parties lined up. Something for which I am truly grateful for – especially when vague memories of drunken Christmas parties from my City days rear their ugly heads! Free wine, dancing and 25 years old – a messy, messy recipe – especially when London black cabs disappear off the streets at midnight, and cell phones are not common place. Yes, yes, yes I am much happier with a lovely dinner out with friends these days!
However, that does not mean to say I don’t like to get the glad rags on still! I’m all for dressing up for the season! This year H&M have knocked it out of the park with sequins and sparkles at great prices, so you can indulge in a one hit wonder for the festive season!
I am all about jumpsuits and boy do they have some amazing ones on offer. Don’t be scared of the romper either – with opaque tights and ankle boots they can be a winner at any age!
This halter neck jumpsuit is stunning – so 70s and very sexy.
I adore this sequin romper – imagine with opaque tights and some block heeled ankle boots.
How divine is this one shoulder jumpsuit? Again super sexy with a little 80s thing going on. At just $59.99 it’s in my cart as we speak!
I haven’t hit the order button yet as I am torn between that one and this one – it looks incredible comfortable and is just $39.99.
Another romper – it looks far more expensive than it’s price tag. Just love, love the lace and the high neck – it might not love my boobs though.
Finally how stunning is this little number. I so badly want to wear this but fear the neckline is too high for my chest. If you have less up top than me – you lucky girls I implore you to try it!
I’m wearing a bit of daytime sequin too from H&M today – this jumper is only $19.99. I’m wearing an XL as I wanted it oversized. I’ve already had compliments a plenty on it at the gas station this morning!
Jumper – H&M // Jeans – J.Crew // Sneakers – Golden Goose (several on sale here) // Coat – Carine Roitfeld x Uniqlo // Bag – Mansur Gavriel
Yesterday was spent getting the garden dressed for Christmas. I have spent all morning trying to tell a daft, deaf dog that no matter how loud or often she barks, the ‘intruder’ in the red hat in the garden will not leave as he is inflated, staked in the ground and plugged in!
Bomber jacket – TopShop // Jeans – Zara // Boots – navy Toga Pulla // Jumper – AllSaints
My NAP sale picks!
Bags and shoes – that is where my heart lies when it comes to Net-a-porter.com. A reliable online store, great delivery times and great customer service. Not a lot that is ‘cheap’, but if you are after that special present, or just an ‘I got through 2015’ treat here’s what I would pick!
I’m just a little bit obsessed with the Stella McCartney Falabella bag. I used to be one of those that just didn’t get it – faux leather but designer prices? However, since holding one in my hands in Saks a few weeks ago, I completely get it. The ‘pleather’ is so soft and beautifully made, the shape is perfect -a great size for everything, and the chain gives it that edginess that I look for. Not to mention I can wear it as a shoulder bag or tote. I am just in love. NAP has several styles in the sale. My heart is set on the Leopard print that is reduced by 30% but I bloody adore the fur one too!
This fringe one is just beautiful, and possibly, a fabulous upgrade from my H&M bags that I use frequently enough to justify an upgrade! Reduced by a significant 30%.
This tiny fur is a great evening bag and is reduced by 30%.
Oh be still my beating heart – can I justify a fur bag?
This is the one I adore – extremely versatile. I love it. 30% discounted.
More leopard print but this time McQ Alexander McQueen – I love the tote I have and I am sure the quality of this will be equal, and it is 30% off.
Finally I think this Alexander Wang camera bag is a great ‘about town’ bag, not to mention it provides me with my ‘I love everything grey’! Reduced, again, by 30%.
Yes – this is still eye-wateringly expensive in the sale – but I LOVE the Givenchy Pandora so much and this cobalt blue is so statement – it could carry you through the summer too worn with reds, purples and corals. My Husband says he refuses to buy bags for me, so maybe I will just have to buy it and get on with it! Reduced by 30%.
Ok so now footwear. Of course the Golden Goose are my first choice/recommendation.
The sparkly low tops are gorgeous. I am a convert to the low top – I still prefer the ‘slide’ style above but these in blue are stunning and 40% off.
Stella McCartney again now – these platforms are SUPERB.
These are glitter – how pefect!?
For those of us with simpler tastes there are also some Nikes and Adidas in the sale. I have both of these styles and they are fabulous!
Finally how cute are these star converse?
So pipe dreaming or not it’s still fun to have a look!
We’re having a quiet day today after a fun Thanksgiving. I’m sitting here eating cheese on toast, with a mug of tea listening to BBC Radio 2. Bliss:)
Thanksgiving sparkles balancing on a rock with my prosecco – we’re just mad here;)
Leggings – H&M (last years but similar here) // Sneakers – Golden Goose // Jumper – Boden Off Duty (30% off everything now with code 7J4Z)
Then out for lunch on Friday, when I was determined to wear my shearling even with temperatures in the 60s!
Jeans – Zara // Jacket – AllSaints (30% off with code CYBER) // Boots – Newbury boots (25% off here with code BF25) // Jumper – Everlane
What to wear now the cold is here!
I’m so excited! Atlanta is COLD! Yay!! At last I get to wear some of my winter clothes – of which I have far too many for our climate! I’ll be in flip flops by March again…but I won’t rub it in!
So what am I wearing now the cold is here? Well I have my eye on several of these beautiful faux fur stoles. Even though it is cold here, with our car culture, I can pretty much get away with a leather jacket and scarf. So why not dress up a great biker jacket with one of these beauties?
Sue first noticed this one in TopShop and I have it in my closet – it looks far more expensive than it’s price tag of $60.
This green stole is beautiful – much more subtle, but again it looks more than it’s price tag of $52.
I love mongolian furs – this takes me back 20 years when I had a black mongolian fur jacket that I bought on Portobello Road with my measly student funds.
This New Look stole is gorgeous – it keeps going in and out of stock on Asos – but be persistent their website updates real time. At just $36 it’s hardly surprising it’s selling out!
This is another option from New Look – super fun and perfect with a black leather jacket.
Talking of leather jackets, I’m so, so excited to be able to wear my AllSaints jackets at last!
Sneakers – Golden Goose // Jeans – Earnest Sewn // Jacket – AllSaints // Tee – AllSaints
Then yesterday I wore this to head to the Georgia Dome to watch the Falcons!
Sneakers – Adidas Top Tens // Jeans – Zara // Tee – Falcons // Jacket – AllSaints (similar here) // Scarf – ASOS
On Friday I popped into Target for one thing. I left having blown the budget on the kids’ clothes. They have some amazing items in right now – especially for tween girls, plus save 40% on girls’ sweaters online!
Sneakers – Nike Air Max // Jeans – Zara // T-shirt – Splendid // Cardigan – H&M
On arriving back home laden with goodies for Poppy and Hugh, I was thrilled to find my Carine Roitfeld coat from Uniqlo had finally arrived. Their customer service has been atrocious – no one picking up in their call center, orders being cancelled with no explanation, and delivery taking an obscene length of time. Not good, not good at all for a global retailer. Thank goodness I love it!
Finally today has been blissful – just stunning weather for our first day on holiday and we headed to the local park deer spotting. Our boxers loved it!
Sweater – Everlane // Sneakers – Golden Goose // Jeans – Zara (old) // Coat – Uniqlo
One last thing – we all know it’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday this week, and the offers have already started pouring in! One to take note of that has 18 hours left to run, is at TheOutnet.com – use Twenty15 at checkout to get an extra 20% off their already discounted stock – some amazing bargains to be had!!
Slouchy straight jeans?
I love jeans. My favorite are skinny jeans – mainly because I think they are easier to wear with ankle boots, but also I feel a little less put together in boyfriend jeans, which admittedly may be the whole idea of them…
I may have found the perfect compromise though – the new slouchy straight jeans that seem to be appearing on shelves. It’s funny I had ordered a couple of pairs from Zara hoping they would work and then I saw the fabulous Tiffany Wendel wearing an Earnest Sewn pair, so I must be on the right track?
Here are the Zara pairs that I ordered – my preference seems to be grey and black right now!
The fit really depends on how slouchy you want them – they have lots of stretch in them and I have them in a US6. I absolutely love them. The blue denim pairs are selling out so hopefully they will restock.
So here I am in mine today – I feel so comfortable and cosy for this crappy weather (which secretly I enjoy!).
Jeans – Zara // Sneakers – Golden Goose // Jumper – Boden (25% off all knitwear until Thursday!) // Coat – Helmut Lang (LOVE this – the perfect lightweight parka – discounted here – I’m in a medium)
Yesterday I was at home with a snotty 7 year old so lived in sweats all day! Monday was a red jacket day – or Butlins day as my hilarious husband suggested.
Jacket – J.Crew // Jeans – Zara // Boots – Toga Pulla // T-shirt – Madewell // Bag – PS1 (similar here)
And a similar outfit from Friday.
Sneakers – Golden Goose // Jeans – J.Crew // T-shirt – H&M // Jacket – J.Crew (on sale) // Sunglasses – Prada
Finally, on Saturday I went for a trip to H&M with Poppy – her favorite place to shop. I tried on this gold tone sequin top and loved it, left it behind, and then ordered it! The more I thought about it the more I liked the length of the sleeves – no wobble to show! I am in a large here.
Poppy came back with this jumpsuit – perfect for Thanksgiving day – ‘comfortable and glitzy’ as she says:) The navy is gorgeous – so different from the usual black – however the black one has already been requested for Christmas!
20% off AllSaints with code!
I love getting these emails in my inbox – especially when they arrive from AllSaints! Use NOVEMBER at checkout and there is 20% off all items except handbags. So this even includes their amazing leather jackets.
I bought this little number a week ago – far cheaper than the Acne Velocite – and even better today when they credited me the 20% discount over the phone this morning! Always worth asking if you have just bought something and then a code arrives – far better than kicking yourself!
I adore this leather jacket – so rare to see a navy/ink biker jacket and for AllSaints it is a great price with the 20% discount. Their leather jackets are just out of this world (Flic loves hers too!).
Their knits are always lovely and unusual. I adore the cold shoulders on these – cosy jumpers, but sexy enough for a night out too. I’m never afraid to show a little flesh:) This Cecily roll neck is perfection.
The Elion jumper in ink – again totally love the navy color of this!
I have the Amei top from years ago with long sleeves in a petrol color (seen here). It is beautiful to wear and extremely comfortable – this sleeveless version is a gorgeous party top with skinny jeans and heels!
My final pick is my favorite top ever – I have 4 in fact! The Wave top – a great comfortable long sleeve tee – but again it has that something special with the split at the back of the arms.
So go forth and enjoy your AllSaints. If you ever need to speak with CS there ask for Chantalie – she was lovely this morning, so helpful and cheery!
Here are a couple of outfits from the start of the week. I’m off for a nap now after ending up in some ridiculous drinking game last night watching the Republican debate! xx
Sneakers – Golden Goose // Jeans – J.Crew // Sweater – Marks & Spencer (sale now on here) // Lipstick – NARS Audacious Charlotte
Bag – Alexander Wang Rocco (similar here discounted) // Jeans – Coated skinnies Zara (old) // Sweater – H&M // Jacket – Mango (old) // Boots – Rag & Bone
Lyst.com – a new favorite website!
As you know most of my shopping is done online. I love shopping in NYC and London where I can walk the streets in the fresh air, and browse windows and stores, collecting big carrier bags as I go along! Unfortunately most of Atlanta’s shopping is offered via indoor malls, which I cannot abide. Somehow it doesn’t feel like a treat, or a day out – there’s nothing to dress up for! We do have a new outdoor shopping area in Buckhead with luxury retailers, but it still feels very new and contrived.
Shopping online can be fun – clicking from one site to another but these days retailers have so much more stock on their sites it can be a tad overwhelming. Well I may have found a solution and an alternative to having 29 tabs open in Safari! Lyst.com.
I used the site recently when I was narrowing down my search for these season’s boots. It’s that time of year where I can justify adding a couple more pairs to my collection!
Lyst.com is an aggregator and partners with designers and stores to bring you your favorites in one place. By indicating preferences and following your shopping habits Lyst.com creates a personal shopping experience for each and every user. I love that it allows you to follow your favorite brands and receive sale and stock alerts.
You may have seen that I’ve already made one heavy investment purchase this season – my new Chloé Susanna boots! What I love about Lyst.com is that it also allows you to price shop easily and see where the cheapest source is for the item you are coveting! These boots haven’t been off my feet since I received them and the funny thing is I didn’t used to like them! I used to think they were way too ornate for my taste. I guess having seen them styled so many different ways, and in so many different color ways I have gradually changed my mind as I am now totally obsessed with them!
These TopShop Bridleway boots have made it on to my wish list – they are SO Gucci but just $70! They would look amazing with black skinnies and a black pussy bow blouse.
They are also available in a stunning burgundy.
I love Splendid clothes but I have never worn their shoes. These are a gorgeous western boot with a bit of slouchiness – really cute with a dress. Compared with the price of Splendid’s clothes these seem quite reasonable at $168.
The beige version is just beautiful.
The hot boot from last year, and a great, cheaper alternative to the Chloés, is the Toga Pulla. I absolutely love them – again a boot I was in two minds about last year. Obviously I need to see some things a few times before they click with me! I know both Eve and Kat love theirs.
I have to say these navy, crocodile effect pair are my top choice – I am smitten with them. I am loving navy boots with black jeans this season.
Finally, given my love of over the knee boots, I was contemplating another pair of Lowlands this year. In fact I ordered the nice blue pair but returned them – I really didn’t need them in addition to the currant pair I have from last year.
Instead I have been drawn to these fringe boots from See by Chloé. I thought I’d had enough fringe in 2015 but I absolutely love these. Again visualize them with skinny black jeans and an oversize sweater. Scrummy!
Which are your favorite boots this season? Have you clicked the ‘place order’ button yet?
Finally here are some photos from the most amazing night out! I took Poppy to see 1989 Taylor Swift tour. She was AMAZING. I cried all the way through Fifteen thinking about my gorgeous girl dealing with all those emotions in the years to come. Taylor is a great role model – her songs deliver great messages of strength and independence for young girls – and Moms in fact!
ON ME Shoes – Golden Goose // Jeans – R13 // T-shirt – Splendid // Jacket – Mango
ON POPPY Jacket – Zara // Jeans – H&M // Boots – Sam Edelman (old)

I bloody love TheOutnet.com
I’ve recently purged a tonne of stuff from my closet – selling some and giving other stuff to charity. It’s been fun – my closet is clearer and my purse is fuller. I’ve come to realize that, maybe with age, my tastes are changing. I am no longer tempted by a ‘quick fix’ on the Zara website. Instead I am happier buying less, less often, but maybe at a slightly higher price point. Instead of writing a specific list of items on my wish list, I have created more generic themes, such as a long winter coat, dressy-going-out boots etc. I am then browsing TheOutnet.com periodically hoping to find the bargains of a lifetime, and do you know what? – It’s paying off!
Now a word of warning you do need to be picky and quite narrow in your searches. There is a lot of random stuff on TheOutnet.com. However, if you know which brands you love that makes it far easier to target a potential bargain.
In the past month I have struck gold twice! Recently I found one Helmut Lang coat just waiting for me at 60% off. This is a real classic coat with leather trims, and I am thrilled with it – far more so than I’d be with a couple of Zara coats!
As for the boots – again just one pair were left at 60% off – but how about these brown/khaki Isabel Marant Andrew boots. It had to be – one pair of FR 39 left with my name on them!
They are not on TheOutnet.com anymore but you can also find some sizes left on sale here.
Of course you will remember I always find fabulous sunglasses on sale too on TheOutnet.com, and this calf hair Alexander Wang Rockie is beautiful with 55% off!
So there we are – my new approach to shopping. I’m finding it thoroughly rewarding. Nothing like a bargain – if you stick to a budget of course! Now if I can just find the Chloé Susannas discounted 😉
As for recent outfits I’ve omitted a few rushing here and there, but here are a few recent ones I’ve enjoyed wearing!
Shoes – Adidas Superstar slip-on // Jeans – ASOS Thea (on sale) // Sweater – Everlane cashmere
Shoes – Golden Goose // Trousers – Zara // Sweater – ASOS
Shoes – Golden Goose // Jeans – R13 (25% off at ShopBop.com) // Top – AllSaints (previous season sale) // Jacket – Regent Linen blazer J.Crew (now on sale)
Inflated high street or discounted designer?
I headed into H&M for a browse on Friday after seeing their new Studio line arrive online. I have to say I don’t really get it. I often see items from H&M on other blogs that grab my attention, and then when I see them in real life they seem overpriced for the quality – especially over here in dollars. Paying $200 for a coat from H&M is just something I would never consider. It got me thinking about several high street retailers who now offer ‘higher end’ lines – like Zara and their Studio range, and J.Crew with the Collection range. Their prices are inflated – in fact often extortionate in the case of J.Crew Collection. Personally I would much rather spend $200 on a heavily discounted piece of Isabel Marant on TheOutnet.com than in a high street store. How about you?
I did grab a couple of mohair knits from H&M that I am extremely happy with – very little, clothing wise, makes me happier than an oversize grey jumper! Sorry I can’t see it online but this is a small – it fits HUGE!
This khaki cardigan made me feel like a young student again so it came home with me too! It’s described as ‘yellow marl’ online but it is definitely green!
These are a couple of items that I liked from the Studio line but still wouldn’t part with my hard earned cash for them.
This weekend bag is well made and large but $349!
I love the colors on this coat, but again I think it’s expensive for H&M at $199. Plus to those of us in the know it is easily recognizable as H&M.
Fall has arrived in Atlanta and we are enjoying amazing clear skies and sun. I’ve even had to dig the cardigans out this week for a couple of cold mornings.
Jacket – Linen regent blazer J.Crew // Jeans – J.Crew (25% off with SHOPNOW) // T-Shirt – ASOS // Shoes – Vince Nina // Bag – McQ (similar here)
If you are partial to a pair of snakeskin shoes I spotted these in H&M which are fab! (Can only see this version online)
Shoes – TopShop Kaiser // Jeans – J.Crew // Top – Mango (similar here) // Cardigan – ASOS // Bag – Rocco (similar here)
Dress – AllSaints Pia (old similar here) // Sneakers – Golden Goose // Jacket – Linen Regent blazer J.Crew // Bag – H&M
What’s in my online shopping carts?
I love watching the new season arrive online. Sites like Zara, Mango, H&M and ASOS are always getting new stock in and I keep adding and removing items from my virtual shopping bags as priorities change. I can’t have it all unfortunately. The only items I’ve ordered so far are either a) the dregs of the summer sales and massively reduced or b) items I will shoot myself over if I miss out on them. The rest I will sit and procrastinate over until they sell out…and then I will regret not buying them now too!
This post is a mix of both so isn’t very cohesive – but I’m sharing in case you want to avoid kicking yourself too come November!
First up the last of the sales. J.Crew, Madewell and ASOS are my success stories here.
I have similar shorts and love the tassels – and after seeing Beth in her tunic I decided to buy the skirt and the tunic. They are an EXTRA 40% off in the sale right now using SALETREAT which makes the skirt less than $20!
I also love this scarf with tassels – again 40% off the sale price with SALETREAT
The Madewell dress that Laura from WIT has is now reduced from $168 to $59.99. I ordered it for a friend and I loved it so much in real life that I have ordered it too.
Finally onto ASOS – always worth a look as they have some brilliant reductions. The Thea jeans that Eve has and loves are now just $20!
The dress I am wearing below is one of my absolute favorite summer styles – oversized (I wear a US 6) and drapey. I have it in navy, grey, black, khaki and burgundy. Now I have it in red for just $26. Keep checking back for sizes as I am pretty sure ASOS update their site real time and stock is always coming back from returns. Stalking always pays off.
So now for the new stuff – and let’s stay with ASOS while I am there! I posted this tunic dress on Instagram the other day and I adore it! It comes in black too – I’m stalking it for my size!
These jumpsuits are probably a love or hate it item. I have the first one and love it so much that I have ordered the zipper one to try. I’m hoping it will look great with sneakers.
Now for Mango. Here are some pieces on my wishlist in addition to the military jacket I posted the other day. Because it is so beautiful let’s just take another look…
I just LOVE this cardigan – even my husband said it was ‘very me’.
Had enough of the military jackets? How about a cardigan with military detailing?
This is beautiful with the fringing.
This may actually replace all my winter coats that I just sold!
Now for Zara. As much as I love their new season I still have to pick and choose. I am neither the width nor height of any of the models. All their clothes look amazing online but on a 44 year old with a large bust and waist maybe not. These, however, I think I can get away with.
Not sure if I can get away with this but I will give it a darn good try – totally love it!
Finally H&M – I always feel I am disappointed with their quality when I see items in store versus online. I am contemplating ordering these though as they are so unique.
I have this blouse in white and love it then I saw Lucy Williams wear this version and now love this too!
I love this chunky knit for winter worn simply with jeans and sneakers.
This balloon sleeve jumper is gorgeous – how unique is the shape for a sweater?
So a bit random hey? All perfectly wearable – I just need to edit it down a little! What are your top picks?
