Dress down Friday.

Well it was quite an eventful day yesterday.  I have to say I wasn’t nervous, more excited than anything.  I pierced my own nose years ago at University.  Crazy, and after yesterday I’ve no idea how I did it myself – I must have been determined and drunk, and the bag of frozen peas must have helped.

I made my decision on Monday that I was finally going to do some piercings, and I made my appointment with Piercing Experience in Atlanta.  I know piercings aren’t to everyone’s taste, just like tattoos, and oddly much as I love piercings, I’ve never wanted a tattoo mainly as I don’t know what I’d have tattooed – there’s nothing of significance that I want to preserve in ink.  At first I wasn’t going to have my nose re-pierced, then I thought ‘what the hell, while I’m there why not?’.  I also had wee diamond tragus and helix piercings.

The photo that inspired me to begin with – I think this looks so pretty:

Christina was amazing – she explained everything, and was incredibly professional.  It was not intimidating at all, some pain of course – but far less than I’d prepared myself for.  Piercing Experience don’t use clamps or guns so it’s all completely sterile and as gentle as piercing through a tough piece of cartilage can be!  I was also really impressed with their choice of jewelry – from fine jewelry like I chose, to tribal and glass jewelry – it’s also all surgical implant grade.  I’m thrilled – I can’t wait to scare the PTA:)

Now I just have deal with my Husband’s silly little jokes about avoiding magnets and the like – he’ll tire of it soon I hope!

It’s freezing here in Atlanta this week so I wrapped up well yesterday.

Today is very much a dress down Friday after a few glasses of wine last night to calm the nerves:)  Also – very manky – but I wanted to keep my piercings dry for another day to help with healing so I didn’t wash my hair – that definitely made it a hat day!  The jumper has to be the BEST cashmere sweater ever.  It is a men’s Uniqlo crewneck size Medium.  Perfectly soft and slouchy.  I want one of these in every color – this is the dark grey.

So share – what did you nab in the Isabel Marant fervour yesterday?!  I did have a twinge of regret that I missed out on the fringe boots but hey ho…I got new bling instead:)

Adore your piercings!! I have wanted tragus and nose forever but husband is not so keen… I have a helix also and love it. (My opinion- what are a few more? He doesn’t buy it though.) Maybe I should steal away to Atlanta one weekend and just get it done and not tell him! Looks so fab on you! I also try to scare the PTA on occasion… I swear we are two peas 😉

Thank you – I am loving longer hair – can’t wait to wear it in a pony tail to show off the piercings:)

Ooh Joanna, I do love a piercing. I’ve just turned 40 but had my belly button pierced for my 30th. A great excuse for more bling! Your new piercings look ace x

I think the tragus placing makes the whole thing look too try hard/mutton. Get another teensy tiny helix piercing and you’ll totally get away with it. xxx

    Joanna,

Don’t worry about freaking out the PTA, you look soO fab with multiple piercings, especially your nose stud. The helix and tragus really set off your hair and face nicely. Good choice. Not to worry about looking your age since you are a foxy twenty-something now with those cute little diamonds. Put on a pair of pointy toe pumps, pencil skirt and you’ll knock them out of their seats!

I’ve been thinking about having a helix and tragus done as well. My hubby thinks I’m going through a mid-life crisis wanting to look like Miley Cyrus. How did they pierce your ears without clamps? Is the after care more difficult with multiples. I’ve also been thinking of a navel ring. Any thoughts?

P.S. Left this comment elsewhere maybe in the wrong place on your blog.

Oh Angie – so kind of you – I’ve gotten really used to them now and even want another helix! Not sure about the twenty-something or the foxy though lol! She just used a sharp – really easy – I just had to breath in and out and relax – a little pain but far less than I expected really. After care has been easy – I had them all on the same side so just sleeping on my other side for now. I’ve been washing occasionally with saline and using an antiseptic spray occasionally but they are healing fine now – the most important thing is to keep them dryish and not touch! Ha I’d love a navel ring but haven’t seen my navel for years;) x

    Joanna,

You are most welcome for my honest comments about your new nose stud, tragus and helix piercings. I’m sure you’ve had lots of favorable comments on your new piercings. Read your comment wanting a second helix piercing. I think a CZ stud or gold captive hoop would really set off all your pretty piercings for sure.

I Noticed some others commenting like myself wishing they had a tragus and helix piercing as pretty as yours. Agree with you the tragus is the cutest making you a trendsetter and role model for other moms.

Still think you underestimate how chic you look with your new piercings Do try black pantyhose, pointy toe pumps, with a black pencil skirt just above the knee. If you think I’m wrong, try this outfit and take a picture to see how you look. You would be off her charts and don’t you think this would be a lovely date night outfit 🙂

BTW, thanks for the advice on aftercare and how easy it has been for care of yours.

    Angie.

P.S. Funny about not seeing your navel for years.. Still think it is a sexy piercing.
