Our trip to NYC!

On Friday the weather was stunning and we headed uptown. Poppy and I shopped while the boys went battling Pokemons in Central Park!

We ate at some incredible places – Jack’s Wife Freda being my absolute favorite restaurant! Mom gets a cocktail, the kids are welcomed with a great kids menu, its great people watching and Dad gets a great coffee!

Even Dave got to go shopping on the Friday! It’s his 50th at the end of this month so as a treat we headed to some super cool stores – way too cool for me but he does like his Japanese designs!

I'm totally the least cool in my family

I did, however, get to venture into & Other Stories to check out their sale – I came away with a sweater and a dress both with 50% off! Not bad hey! In fact for the first time ever on an NYC trip I think I spent the least! Dave, Poppy and Hugh all coming back with more than me! The kids stocked up at Uniqlo, H&M and Zara of course!

This dark green cardigan is gorgeous and snuggly and the wrap belt gives it a great shape. I actually bought it instead of this coat that I fell in love with. I cannot justify another coat, but I have this one in camel from last year and adore it. It now also comes in black too.

This sweater is lush – I just love the red instead of my usual blacks and greys!

Finally I treated myself to the MAC Liptensity lipsticks. Check these out – the pigments are so intense – I love them! Great moisture too but also great staying power. I bought Eros, Fireworks, Habanero and Postmodern.

The new #liptensity lipstick from @maccosmetics is incredible - such intense pigments!

Oh and if you are looking for a FABULOUS Acne Velocite jacket tribute check this out from H&M! It’s real suede and only $399 – given what I paid for my AllSaints shearling last year this is a BARGAIN! It’s sure to sell out in the blink of an eye!

Sorry folks I am severely lacking in energy – I’ve been wiped out with strep throat for the past week. I can’t remember the last time I felt so dreadful! Fortunately I am on antibiotics so should be fit as a fiddle by Thursday when we leave for New York!

I’ve compiled a little shopping list in preparation – what do you think!?

Ok so I have them in red and I have them in navy – they are worth every penny in my humble opinion. I am on the look out for them in Reef Shell – it’s a lovely nude with gold hardware. The iconic Chloe Susanna.

Now obviously my funds will have been obliterated if I buy the boots – but if not I am heading straight to Mango as we don’t have a store here in Atlanta.

This jacket is lovely and such a great price! The perfect mid length.

H&M will be next for this oversize mohair sweater – I just love the color.

In fact – how bizarre – those 3 items together with a pair of jeans would make the PERFECT outfit!

So for now it’s back to the packing whilst living in pjs – kicking strep in the butt! Keep an eye on Instagram for my NYC updates!

Yesterday I dusted the Newburys off for the first time this season! I LOVE wearing them – they really are my favorite boot – comfortable yet high enough to extend the legs!

They are available in leopard, berry and black – I believe they also have khaki in store for those of you in the UK – I’d love to see those!

Given the height of them they are incredibly comfortable and I went for my regular UK 6 so I would say they are true to size.

It was a hectic weekend here in our house. On Saturday I hosted a brunch for my new business – it was wonderfully successful and a lot of fun! I wore my & Other Stories dress from the sale – I felt so feminine in it!

So Labor Day has come and gone and it seems the weather here is all to aware of it. Its still beautiful and warm but the humidity has dissipated making everything 100x more comfortable!

I’ve been able to wear my denim jacket for the past 2 days!

Last night these beauties arrived – I can only see them in stock here at Net-a-porter – they are selling like hotcakes!

While I was on the Sam Edelman site looking for them I spotted these gorgeous things – another great Gucci tribute – these are blue velvet or magenta suede but also come in other colors.

The dog days of summer

Mid August in Georgia is just miserable…moan, moan, moan…hot, humid and hot! Thank goodness for AC! Though the AC in the office blows snowballs so a jacket is still required for inside! Today I have just a quick outift catch up from this week – it’s been a busy one now we are back at school and normal work weeks have resumed. Oh and yes I’ve been learning to drive a manual car again – not too much gear crunching thankfully! I still love my GTI and I’ve just about figured out the radio and all the buttons!

It’s my birthday tomorrow!

Yes I’ve spent the past week celebrating! It only happens once a year so why not!? Us Leos aren’t known for being shy and retiring either!

On Friday night I invited a few close girlfriends out for cocktails and tapas – it was perfect – such a fun evening.

With a mild hangover on Saturday, my fabulous family took me to me favorite Mexican spot for lunch and margaritas.

Tomorrow I’m being taken for lunch then dinner by my gorgeous husband. It’s a good job I’m back in the gym – Slimming World has been on hold this week 😉

As for this evening I’ll be cracking open one of my gifts – a bottle of champagne – and toasting the start of being 45 – my late 40s – and feeling better than ever!

It’s been an odd week readjusting to life back in Atlanta. I can’t lie, I am totally jealous of all you Europeans just starting your vacations, while we prepare for back to school on Wednesday! My Instagram feed is full of blue skies and oceans and I have to keep reminding myself that was me just a week ago!

To ease the pain I am focusing on my upcoming birthday! I’m 45 on the 10th and like to celebrate for as long as possible! Hence, Friday night, my Husband and I went out for tapas and cocktails. Maybe my Leo instincts are aroused, but I decided to go full on leopard print for the evening. This dress is just £19.99 from New Look and is available in the US here on ASOS (keep checking back for your size – they update regularly). I felt fantastic in it! The dress is pleated so not tight at all and it is the perfect midi length. I’m now on the look out for dresses in a similar style as it felt so great on. The shoes are Vince and an incredible eBay bargain -new they were $425 and I got them NWT for $65!

I made a couple of other purchases this week including the red Adidas Gazelles – I just love the Gazelles and they take me back to the 90s when I wore a green pair to death! They do fit big and I sized down to a US 8 instead of my usual 8.5.

I also just wore my new running tights from the H&M For Every Victory collection. They are amazingly comfortable – 2miles on the treadmill with no adjusting. I’m in a medium and they fit great.

As for the rest of last week here’s what I’ve been wearing. It’s lovely to have all my closet back!

We’re packing up tonight for our return to Atlanta this weekend. I’m sorry to be leaving – it’s been another amazing vacation. Certainly eventful – a terrorist attack, an attempted coup and now searches in the area we’re staying for the coup leaders. It’s like Apocalypse Now with helicopters and fighter jets buzzing over and naval ships patrolling the waters! Never a dull moment.

In the meantime I’m relaxed enough to continue with some online shopping. Heading home has one advantage – I can wear all my closet again! Living in bikinis is fine for a month or so but there comes a time where I want to be cool enough to wear makeup and jeans!

H&M have just added a bunch of new arrivals to their site and they are absolutely killing it this season – so much to love! Here are my favorite picks today.

There’s definitely a few strong color themes – green and blue for example – but I am most enamored by some of the red items!

This off the shoulder blouse is just $24.99 and looks great with shorts or jeans.

The dress in a similar style is just $17.99 and also comes in blue – absolutely love these for making the most of my tan when I get home.

Their pilot jackets are definitely a key item to own. I blogged about the Gucci tribute the other day and this one has now appeared – just adore it in red.

The jacket will be great worn with jeans as above or these trousers – very much like the 70’s tracky bottoms I used to wear! With a plain white tee or off the shoulder top these will look brilliant.

They also come in black – you could wear these with heels even with an off the shoulder top like this below.

I have a few black dresses but if I were in the market for one this is perfect. Loose and unfitted but with beautiful trumpet sleeves and just $24.99.

This next dress is very similar to one I nearly ordered from & Other Stories. This will be great with sneakers and a tan topped up with false tan when I get back! I’m not sure I am tall enough to wear it with loose trousers but I will definitely try it over skinny jeans too.

We’ll be no where near cardigan weather for a while but when we are I will be trying this ankle length cardigan. It also comes in grey and black and it looks so elegant for just $24.99.

Blush is another color I’ve seen an awful lot of for early next season and this pilot jacket is just $34.99! It also comes in black, dark red and khaki.

Go on take a quick gander – with all the publicity H&M are getting right now they’ll be gone in a heartbeat online! Oh and check out their new sportswear – it is gorgeous!
