Gosh that looks so odd to see it in writing – I’m 41 3/4. I have to say I don’t feel what I thought almost 42 would feel like. I certainly don’t see myself as old, or middle aged for that matter. I still buy clothes that I like rather than what I, or others, think I should be wearing. I just have a few extra greys that need covering each month.
So am I wearing a skirt that is too short for my age? What do you think? I didn’t consider it too short till just now. I bought it based on the Michael Kors skirt I’d seen and I love the color. I think it is the only yellow item I have in my closet though – it’s definitely not normally a color I gravitate towards.

It’s so funny that you are writing about this, because I, too, am almost 42 and have been feeling like I should be wearing longer skirts. I love this one on you, though…and it’s not too short. You’ve got great legs. If you feel good in it, I think you should wear whatever you want!
Oooh when is your birthday Martha – did we already discuss I’m a Leo? Your legs should be fab from running – get them out don’t hide them! xx
Cute. I would put myself on the more conservative side of skirt lengths and I don’t think this is too short. You can definitely pull it off.
Thank you!! I have skirts of all lengths and if anything feel a bit frumpy in a maxi skirt…I’m still working on styling them in a way that works for me!
Gorgeous skirt & you look fab in it Joanna, definitely not too short, especially with your great legs. My 13 year old son has recently been saying a couple of skirts I’ve picked up in shops are too short for me but I reckon you’re only as old as you feel! x
Ha – when the children start telling me it’s too short I might have to start to listen!
I don’t think it’s too short at all .. I think the boots are too heavy with it when the shirt is a heavier item too but as for the skirt – no M’am it is just beautiful and with legs like yours it would be a crime to keep them hidden

Mmm – I remember you don’t like boots with skirts or shorts – I actually like wearing these with shorter lengths as it makes me feel less formal or dressy – but I get what you’re saying too – maybe ballet flats? xx
I think the skirt looks great on you. I’m 48 and I would wear it myself. I still wear mini skirts, but if they are much shorter than yours, I will wear some kind of tights with them. You have a cute figure and nice legs, so keep rocking it!
Oooh Lynn that’s great news – you’ll have to send me some photos of how you style them!
You are very brave…….. I think clothing should be figure appropriate rather than age appropriate and I’m afraid in the case of the yellow skirt, it is definitely NOT appropriate. It needs good legs not footballers knees!
The knees are a bit beaten up from playing football ironically and a few falls here and there – but if I kept my knees hidden here I’d be sweltering all summer!
Fabulous Joanna! Of course I love the colour, but you can definitely get away with it, as you have great legs, plus if you feel confident in something that comes across and that’s half the battle! X
The color is fabulous isn’t it – and I love it with blue…taking cues from you Mrs:)
I have 43 year old legs. Each year when I clean out my closets, I find myself getting rid of things that now all of a sudden seem too short, show too much skin. I think you look great!
I would if I had your legs. I have chubby knees. Sigh.
I have to say that when i read the intro, I was expecting much shorter. This length is perfect on you! You look amazing! Great colour too. seriously, my legs never looked that good my whole life, not to mind in my 40’s. Get. Them. Out. There. ax
Hmmm, not sure about this look, I am no frump and a fashion follower, but as we get older sometimes young mini skirts can look slightly mutton unless worn with black tights. Sorry
I love this outfit!
I love the skirt and the length is fine. I think it would look great with low sneakers (converse or plimsoles of some sort)
Whoo Hoo! Love the over forty bloggers breaking the so called rules… I am 47 and can’t wait to rock a new shorter skirt I purchased recently.
I think you look amazing in it! With your legs & style it so works & suits you! I love skirts with ankle boots! 🙂 Ax
