Graphic t-shirts.

Isn’t it odd how something you once hated with a passion can become something you yearn for? For me those things include heart shaped jewelry – once I though this was tacky but make it an Elsa Peretti piece and all of a sudden things change.

Logo and graphic t-shirts also fall into this category for me. The thought of wearing my favorite tour t-shirt, or wearing a slogan emblazoned across my chest seemed so puerile and again tacky – maybe I just overdosed in the 80s?

Well all that has changed, as many of my style stereotypes have, with my love for Pinterest. Pinterest is fabulous for providing inspiration and tips on how to style items that may not even have crossed your mind before. These images made me think twice about the graphic t-shirt.

Pretty cool looks hey? I did wear my Bowie t-shirt quite a bit last year and I must recycle these outfits over the coming weeks.

We just got our new SMART tv – what a revelation Netflix streaming is! I’m already well into Season 2 of Breaking Bad and this t-shirt is a must for any fan.

I adore this one – it should be my motto.

This one by Wildfox made me giggle and will make you cringe – my Husband calls me ‘dreamy’:)

I think this Coke t-shirt is super cool – especially living in the home of Coca-Cola.

For something maybe a little more understated – this NY t-shirt is perfect for wearing with jeans or shorts.

Here’s another one of my favorites – I have this and wore it a lot over Spring Break with denim cut offs – it’s currently on sale too.

There have been a lot of Run DMC t-shirts out and about recently – maybe something to do with the Adidas revival? I’d love this – my favorite tune of all time is Run DMC and Jason Nevins ‘It’s like that’.

Finally one for all of you that want to give peace a chance.

Inspiration from an icon.

There are several style icons around the globe who inspire me, but the woman who makes me weak at the knees with her effortless chic and je ne sais quoi is Emmanuelle Alt. Wikipedia says she was born May 18th 1967 which is interesting not only because my daughter’s birthday is May 18th but also because she’s heading for her 46th birthday this year! She looks phenomenal at 46!

Her uniform is pretty standard fare – if you ignore the fact that it is compiled of designer pieces – you’ll recognize plenty of Isabel Marant when you look at photos. You’ll often see her in a blazer, t-shirt, skinnies or harem trousers with pointy pumps or ankle boots. Regardless of what she wears – it somehow always looks amazing and also looks like she hasn’t given her wardrobe that day a second thought. She has a formula and she sticks by it. If you saw a headless shot of her you’d be able to tell who it is instantly.

I think blogging is starting to make me over think what I wear, leading to some dubious decisions and combinations. It’s time to pare back and simplify. So here is my attempt at jeans, t-shirt and a blazer. I actually feel really comfortable like this and it’s one of MM’s favorite looks on me. InStyle magazine also dedicate a page this month to the blazer and jeans look – so I must be on to something.

The blazer is Zara from last summer – it’s hard to see the detail but it doesn’t have lapels – I love it – it has great strong shoulders! The t-shirt was a tenner from Target and is probably suitable for Valentine’s Day and the earrings were cheap as chips from Forever 21🙂 The jeans are Gap grey jeggings and the Carlsen boots were $40 from Steve Madden about three years ago, and I think look very Marant. Oh the irony, given I didn’t choose the only Isabel Marant I own – my Dicker boots.

On my wrist I decided to add a bit of embellishment to my standard Elsa Peretti open heart bracelet.

Anniversary outfit.

We had a lovely evening – great food, great wine and great conversation – we even stayed up late listening to music when we got home so I am feeling a tad tired today.

I just wanted to share my outfit from last night – a jumpsuit!! Yes I found one that I actually like wearing and is comfortable and fairly flattering – though I think next time I wear it I will switch out the tie belt for a wide black belt to give me a bit more shape. Believe it or not it was just $35 from Target! It is by Kirna Zabete for Target who I have to say I have never heard of but their prints are gorgeous! The print on this jumpsuit at first glance looks like leopard print but it is in fact little kisses/lips – I love it – it is so unusual. I wore it with a Zara fuchsia jersey jacket for a pop of color. My booties are Nine West pony hair from Zappos – they are fierce – high – but fierce! If you’re interested in these boots – size down – I needed a 7.5 and I am never a 7.5 – normally an 8 in heels – but the 8s were falling off my feet. My accessorizing is going well – I remembered a necklace from Macy’s (similar blue one here) that goes great with the grey and I even remembered to wear my Elsa Peretti Tiffany bone cuff – my first ever Tiffany item bought for me Christmas of 2001 by my lovely Husband.
