Music that inspires…

It was a good run this morning and a great feeling to burn off some of last night’s calories.  What can be better on a Sunday morning than pounding the streets in glorious sunshine with blue skies?  It wasn’t that warm at 10am this morning but gorgeous non the less.  To help me on my way was another country foot tapper – Dwight Yoakam’s “Guitars, Cadillacs” – the beat is perfect for getting up the last hill on my 4mile loop.  Don’t ask me how Dwight gets in those jeans though….

Yesterday I was late to pick my daughter up from the pool and when I arrived she was with her instructor, in tears and panic stricken that Mommy had abandoned her, left the building and forgotten all about her.  I felt like the worse Mom in the World.  I think I managed to convince her that due to the fact I think of her every minute of the day I am unlikely to ever forget about her.  However, given the emotional scars that I left her with yesterday I was extremely cognizant of the time today as I ran on the treadmill while she was swimming again.  I tried to run a fair bit faster to get rid of some the cold germs and work off some calories before going out for dinner tonight.  Hence my shuffle was skipped through until I found some faster tempo music.  Today’s song is Gram Parsons “I Can’t Dance” – MM heard me playing it just now and said wow that is so Camden – so obviously we played it a lot back then in our heady partying days pre-parenthood.  Due to the age of the song and the brevity of Gram’s life I couldn’t find footage of a live performance on You Tube but here’s the tune – enjoy:)

The rain finally cleared up enough for a run this afternoon.  Another 4 miles in the legs, but the damp and cold make me feel older and bring out more niggly aches and pains – must stretch and get that foam roller out before my knees seize up again.

It was a fun tune that got me home today…

The plan this morning was for MM and I to work out at the gym while we dropped the kids in their care facility – well little did we know there are no carers there on a Sunday so we had to turn right back around and head home.

My running has been sporadic since the New Year so I decided to get myself out pounding the pavement instead.  Blogging about my running might make me more accountable but I don’t want it to get tedious for you guys either.  So in an effort to make it more interesting I’m going to post my last ‘tune’ from each run that has inspired me to sprint the last few hundred yards…today I did 4 miles comfortably (had a lot of pent up energy from a week at home!) and I have the Scissor Sisters to thank for shaving a few seconds off my time.

Hello!

Hi all and thanks for reading.  I wanted to do a little introduction before I start posting.  I am a British transplant living in Atlanta since 2000 – I moved here with my Husband for an adventure, thinking we’d only be here a year – and well 2 cars, a house, 2 dogs and 2 children later it looks like we are here to stay now we have our little blue passports!

This blog will evolve over time I’m sure. I decided to start writing as I have been plunged into the depths of Social Media for the past couple of years and given my addictive personality I am rarely away from Facebook or Twitter so My Man (MM) suggested that I start blogging.

I love fashion and I’m happily vain enough to take copious photos of myself; I try to stay healthy by running and cycling though I do love my wine too; and I love visiting the many fabulous restaurants and bars here in Atlanta.

A couple of years ago, after having both my children, I rediscovered my style mojo after losing a huge amount of weight gained before and during my pregnancies (I’m sure I will write more regarding this transformation later and post some humiliating photos).  This weight loss contributed to my new obsession with clothes – as I said I have an addictive personality and replaced one addiction with another.  I plan to post photos of what I like to wear – not because I am an authority on style by any means, but deciding what I am going to wear/buy takes up a lot of my waking hours – plus I have had some great feedback on various FB pages where I have already shared my outfits of the day:)

Anyway – I am thankful to anyone that stops here to see what banal things I’ve been up to – I’ll try and keep it fresh, fun and fabulous – I’m a Leo so there’s rarely a down day in my life!
