After a lazy day by the pool, which we all needed for a bit of R&R, we headed out to dinner. The restaurant is situated in the village where we are staying, and it is on the side of a hill overlooking the Med. Just a beautiful location with great views and amazing food. The mezze never stopped arriving!

Holiday sales shopping
I try so hard not to surf online stores while I am on vacation – but I have to check email and my inbox is FULL of sales emails. I really should unsubscribe from them all. Then I try to keep up with all my favorite blogs and there they are – just taunting me with all the bargains they have discovered!
I have been pretty good – while back in the UK I picked up a couple of AllSaints dresses in the sale. Trust me – with AllSaints prices the sales are always worth it and now all items are 50% off.
My sister also bought the Riviera dress here, she looks fabulous in it:
The black Hilde Vi dress also comes in stone which I love too.
I’ve been stalking TheOutnet.com for these Isabel Marant Betty sneakers. I have the Bobbys in ecru from a couple of years ago and adore them – so much so I could justify the burgundy Bettys – or can I? They are 55% off and I keep seeing sizes selling out – but keep checking for returns if your size is sold out.
Finally I was catching up on some blog reading by the pool this evening and I sort of wish I hadn’t. Eve has blogged her sales wins and one of the jackets was on my wish list at the beginning of the season and the other I hadn’t even seen before but looks amazing on her!
I’ve ordered the black frayed hem jacket that I have had in and out of my cart all season – now 50% off:
I adore the ecru jacket that Eve is still debating – I have ordered it – again 50% off!
I’m also tempted to go back for this light pink jacket in a similar shape – just perfect with a grey tee and jeans.
Finally I grabbed a couple of these tanks in ecru and black ready to reveal my sun kissed shoulders once I am back. A steal at this price…
Thanks a bunch Eve 😉 I better get eBaying too 😉 xx
A blogger meetup in Manchester
Yesterday I headed into Manchester to meet my gorgeous friends Sue (SusieSoSo.blogspot.co.uk), Becky (Restyle-blog.blogspot.co.uk) and Helen (fashion40ish.blogspot.co.uk). We had the most brilliant time catching up and having a good natter over lunch in Selfridges. I really wish I was around more often to see them – it is good for the soul. When I started blogging I would never have believed that I would make new lifelong friends.
I was quite cunning too and arrived a little early so that I could meander around the Arndale Centre first. I may have bought the shoes I was lusting after the other day.
Shoes – TopShop // Jeans – J.Crew // Top – AllSaints
Off now to enjoy the rare sunshine!
Poppy and Joanna do NYC
I’ve just had the most brilliant 48 hours! One night in NYC with my incredible 9 year old. She is a natural traveler! It was so much fun to spend time together – just the two of us. She is a joy to be with and didn’t ever complain even though we walked miles, sometimes in the cold rain! Yes the weather sucked on Tuesday afternoon – we were completely caught off guard by the constant rain. Thankfully the sun made an appearance on Wednesday morning!
We left bright and early on Tuesday – but that didn’t stop our flippin’ flight being delayed due to the NYC weather!
On me – Sneakers – Golden Goose (similar here) // Jeans – J.Crew (30% off with SHOPNOW) // Top – AllSaints (now on sale) // Bag – McQ by Alexander McQueen // Scarf – H&M (old)
We stayed at the City Rooms + NYC hotel at Lafayette and Canal. I highly recommend it – cheap as chips for NYC, clean, VERY basic, hardwoods, comfy beds, clean bathrooms and easy access to Canal St. subway to get Uptown. As soon as we arrived we headed out for lunch to Jack’s Wife Freda – just the best restaurant in SoHo as far as I am concerned – I love it there and they are totally child friendly. Poppy just loved people watching.
After lunch we wandered around SoHo in the rain – unfortunately for Poppy very few of the stores there had a children’s section but she still managed to find a Swatch that she loved, swearing that she would much rather have that than clothes. Mom you’re a sucker.
The following day, after breakfast at Jack’s Wife Freda again, we headed Uptown to 5th Avenue – where of course Zara had a kids section – and oh how quickly we forgot about the watch. We totally blew the budget in Zara 😉 I must say thank you to the lovely Maya at Jack’s Wife Freda. I follow them on Instagram and I had mentioned Poppy’s excitement about eating there. As we were eating breakfast I tagged a few photos of Poppy. Having seen we were there Maya called the restaurant and asked them to take extra special care of us – so sweet. Poppy really enjoyed her watermelon juice on the house.
Top – AllSaints // Jeans – J.Crew (on sale plus another 30% off with SHOPNOW) // Shoes – Gucci
After yet more shopping we were pretty exhausted – we walked miles – and we’re not used to that in Atlanta!
We picked our bags up and headed back to La Guardia ready to sleep all the way home. We had just the best time and I am already talking up NYU for Poppy 😉 She is a natural in the City and can charm anyone – she had the store assistants and flight attendants eating out of the palm of her hand.
Far more fun than any birthday party we could have thrown – well at least for me anyway! 😉
My Net-a-porter.com sales edit
Well I have made a couple of purchases so I thought it only fair that I share what I didn’t want to miss out on! I usually use the NAP sale to stock up on great basics and that is what I have done again this time – adding once more to my collection of Splendid t-shirts with these in navy. I have both already in black, grey and white and love them:
The Supima cotton and model blend t-shirt – reduced by 40% from $65 to $39
The stretch jersey top reduced by 40% from $95 to $57
I have wanted this jumpsuit forever but full price was just a tad too much at $245 – now it is a more palatable $171.50. Their jumpsuits are brilliant for day to nightwear – so comfortable too.
Now for the other bargains that you shouldn’t miss out on. How about that pair of Dicker boots you’ve been lusting after? Now reduced from $650 to $455. Most sizes are out of stock but keep checking back as there will be returns – you can even call NAP and ask to be added to a waiting list for returns.
My Nike Airforce 1s are now just $66.50.
The highly sought after Levi’s 501 CT jeans are reduced from $100 to $70.
I am sorely tempted by the Alexander Wang Chastity tote reduced from $895 to $626.50.
So have you dared to take a peek yet? It really is a fab sale.
As for my recent outfits – they’ve mainly consisted of pool gear – but here’s what I wore for work on Thursday.
Shoes – Gucci // Jeans – MiH Jane jeans (off TheOutnet reduced by 65%) // Top – J.Crew (on sale plus an extra 25% off with SALENEWS)
Then for lunch with a fabulous friend on Friday:
Dress – AllSaints // Boots – Rag & Bone canvas Newbury boot
Tell me what you order if you have a wee splurge at NAP!
Some more lush shoes!
Marks and Spencer damn you. I rarely browse their site – it’s not very user friendly and their images are totally uninspiring. I can’t even remember why I was on the site – but look what I found – aren’t they beauties?!
The Gillie Lace Up Stiletto – but with a completely bearable heel height. They come in black and neutral. Be quick though as many sizes are already out of stock.
Okay so now on to what I’ve been wearing – the weather has been pretty mixed here – lots of thunderstorms yesterday so we spent the day watching Hobbit movies – just a fab family day.
Top – Forever 21 (old) // Jeans – J.Crew (30% off with WEEKEND) // Sneakers – Stan Smiths
Today it’s back to the office but my time there is cut short as the kids are on half day camp. They were so excited this morning especially now they get to wake up when they are ready to instead of with an alarm clock at 6am! I love the summers!
Shoes – Dolce Vita Haku // Trousers – Mango (old) // Top – AllSaints (old)
That’s all for today – oh except for my new little venture over at www.SoberWithStyle.com – thanks for your support!
Memorial weekend outfits!
I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! It’s a Bank Holiday in the UK and Memorial weekend here. The kids have finished school and we’ve been at the pool most mornings. We watched and enjoyed the Eurovision even though my kids are totally confused by it – and the atlas will be coming out later so they can fully understand why the Georgia that entered is not our Georgia!
We’re about to go for Mexican and it will be my first true test of not drinking. I’ve made a decision that I am going to abstain and I’m really happy about it, but Mexican with no margarita will be odd to say the least – well the first time anyway 😉 Not sure how long it will last – maybe forever, maybe a year, maybe a month – who knows but I feel the benefits already. It really wasn’t doing anything for my state of mind or waistline.
On Wednesday night I was out on a girls night out and had a lovely time but stayed out way too late!
Dress – AllSaints // Booties – Nine West Glyn (on sale and 30% off!)
Also I ended up asking for a photo with Dennis Shroder who was enjoying a quiet moment with a hookah pipe outside a bar. Poor guy – a) I didn’t know who he was at first – but he was obviously a famous dude given the possé of chicks and guys around him, and b) the Hawks had just lost so he probably really did just want to be alone!
On Thursday my lovely husband took me out for lunch to celebrate the last week of school – long lunches are a thing of the past when the kids are at home – it’ll be picnics at the pool instead!
Top – Zara // Jeans – Diesel Fayza (massively discounted here) // Booties – Nine West Glynn (yes I have multiple colors – so easy to walk in even with a 3″ heel!)
Finally today and I’m just about to walk out the door for enchiladas – which I’ve sort of earned after a jog with the dogs!
Clogs – Lotta // Shorts – J.Crew (30% off with code WEEKEND – these are a 29″ and they are so comfy with lots of stretch) // Tunic – J.Crew (on sale plus an extra 30% off with code WEEKEND)
Enjoy the long weekend!!
The Birthday Girl
Yesterday Poppy turned 9! I can’t quite believe I am the mother of a 9 year old. She loves hearing the story of her actual birth and everytime I detail it for her I feel a pang of sadness that it is so long ago – I don’t ever want to forget that day we welcomed our first baby into the world! She made us all wait till 6.30pm – her approx. time of birth – before we could ‘celebrate properly’! Chocolate fudge cake seemed to work well for that little celebration 😉
We ended up at Shake Shack for burgers – her favorite place for food, but I am more excited about traveling to NYC 2 weeks today, for a mother/daughter trip to continue her celebrations!
It’s the last week of school now, packed with conferences, school visits and lots of fun for them! It’s Memorial Day this weekend too, so we’re planning a very lazy weekend interspersed with various meals out and mini celebrations to welcome the beginning of summer! I must not forget to stream The Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday – one of my favorite events of the year 😉
Here are my outfits from the past couple of days – I seem to be reaching for the jeans at the moment!
Shoes – Vince Claire // Jeans – TopShop Hayden // Top – AllSaints (old)
I love these Vince Claire d’Orsay pumps and the navy snakeskin is now on sale at Nordstrom with 33% off! I am normally a US 8.5 but wear an 8 in these. Be quick there are several sizes available!
There are several versions of the Vince Nina on sale too!
The nude version is even cheaper here with several sizes in stock.
Shoes – Adidas Superstar // Jeans – Diesel Fayza // Jacket – J.Crew linen Regent blazer in Kiwi // T-shirt – Splendid
New sunglasses and new hair
I don’t buy a lot of accessories. I love a great bag, but I hate changing bags daily, so I don’t have too many. I don’t do necklaces, and these days I tend to stick to dainty studs in my ears. The one accessory I do enjoy buying, however, is sunglasses. I have about 10 pairs, which I don’t feel is excessive when I live in Atlanta with sunshine 12 months of the year – even when it’s cold the sun still shines! I tend to spend quite a bit on each pair – thankfully – touch wood – I haven’t lost or broken a pair yet. I’m really short sighted so I also have a couple of pairs of prescription sunglasses. Because I wear glasses for vision I think I am quite fussy about the comfort, weight and shape of glasses – sunglasses and prescription glasses. That’s probably why I always think it’s worth paying a little extra for a great pair. Well now you can have all that and at a great price point too.
Warby Parker started as an online alternative to expensive opticians and now they also have bricks and mortar stores, including one in Atlanta. They offer great quality eyewear at great price points along with the opportunity to do some good too –
“Almost one billion people worldwide lack access to glasses, which means that 15% of the world’s population cannot effectively learn or work. To help address this problem, Warby Parker partners with non-profits like VisionSpring to ensure that for every pair of glasses sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need.”
The other great thing about Warby Parker is that if you have no local store you can order a ‘try on’ kit. They will send you 5 frames to try at home before you make your final decision – how cool is that!?
I had seen this fabulous pair on their Instagram feed the other day, and on Wednesday I stopped by just to try them on…well you know how that goes 😉 I love them – and I now have a pair of super cool sunglasses with polarized lenses for just $95! Mine are the Banks in crystalized ginger – I’d quite like the sea smoke tortoise too which has gorgeous blue and grey shades in it.
Yesterday I spent most of the day in hair salons – either for me or the children! It’s exhausting – my husband laughs – but seriously all that talking, washing, dyeing, cutting and then dealing with kids confined in a salon – I was seriously beat last night!
I am still trying to grow mine a little but the fabulous O’Neil at Van Michael salon gave me a great shape and removed my mullet to sharpen it up a little. Lauren at Plum salon then colored it for me – though she deserves double for giving my son the best haircut ever – and believe me he is incapable of sitting still!
Sneakers – Nike Air Force 1 // Jeans – J.Crew // T-shirt – AllSaints
Have a fabulous Friday – my day consists of housework, a run and then hopefully lunch with my husband! We have only one week left of school so I am trying to enjoy ‘my time’ before ‘summer family time’ kicks in!! x
*this is not a sponsored post – all opinions are my own and I bought the sunglasses!
Pretty dresses
Just a quick outfit post today as it has been a crazy couple of days packed with field days, and then ‘muffins with mom’ yesterday. All the children in Poppy’s 3rd grade class read memoirs they had written, about why they loved their moms so much, to a room of tearful, sniffing moms. It was lovely and emotionally draining!
Today the pool opens so it’s time to hit the gym and then recline with my new kindle by the pool for the rest of the day. The kindle paperwhite is my Mother’s Day gift and I love it! It is the perfect device for reading – no glare, great contrast and the ideal size. I’ve already downloaded some classics to re-read – Pride and Prejudice and To Kill a Mockingbird, plus the best seller Girl on a Train. I love having instant access to so much reading material! If you have a reader in your house the paperwhite is a perfect gift! I never thought I would need another device, having nearly every Apple device, but last year when we went on vacation my husband had more books than clothes in his bag and I swore we would never again carry a physical library!
So here are the outifts. Two fabulous dresses, very different, but each perfect in their own right. The first is one of my AllSaints sale scores – the Relian dress in burgundy – I love it.
Dress – AllSaints Relian dress // Boots – Rag & Bone Newbury (25% off here right now!!)
The second dress is a beautifully pretty dress from Mango. I wore my septum ring to the Mom’s morning and I was hesitant at first about the reaction from the other mother’s but no one said a thing! To divert attention I wanted to wear something really feminine so I opted for this navy dress – it’s also available in a deep pink.
Dress – Mango // Sandals – Ancient Greek
If you are in the USA enjoy your Mother’s Day!
